Actor Harish Patel discusses his role as a cameraman in Marvel's Eternals. The MCU film will feature the debut of the titular cosmic race, awakened after the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. Directed by Oscar winner Chloé ZhaoEternals has been one of the most anticipated upcoming Marvel entries, partly because of the mystery surrounding it. Little is known about the film's plot save for what characters will be involved and what information could be gleaned from their roles.

One actor in particular caught fans' eyes, though, when the first footage from Eternals debuted in a Marvel Phase 4 sizzle reel. Seen in only two shots, many thought his presence was a fluke. When the cast of Eternals gathers in what looks to be a wooded area, a cameraman can be seen lugging equipment beside the group. Some thought this was a case of unedited footage. That cameraman is played by Patel, though, and he can also be seen in another shot holding a camcorder next to Nanjiani's Kingo.

Now, Patel has opened up about his mysterious role in the film. In an interview with Pink Villa, Patel says that what was seen of him in the teaser amounts to the entirety of his presence in the film. In fact, Patel says, that's where his role "starts and ends."

Whatever little you have seen of me in the teaser that's where my role starts and ends.

The Eternals all gather in the forest in the MCU movie

If Patel is telling the truth, it seems he will have little impact on the film. On the other hand, if Patel does have a larger role in the film, he certainly wouldn't be allowed to give away the details of said role. Right now, it looks as if Patel is somehow involved with Kingo, a Bollywood movie star, quite possibly documenting his journey with the rest of the Eternals. What that would mean for the rest of the plot is interesting - does the world know about the Eternals? Does Kingo want Patel's character documenting the events of the film?

It would certainly add a meta aspect to Eternals to have the cameraman documenting the journey. At this point in the MCU, the world is more than aware of super-powered beings both earthbound and cosmic so this could provide an interesting outlet for the titular group to get their story out there for whatever reason. Unfortunately, Patel didn't give too much information and it's all but guaranteed that he isn't allowed to. Fans will have to wait until Eternals comes out in November to find out the true extent of his role in the film.
