Angelina Jolie details the strange training process she underwent for Eternals. Jolie made her screen debut alongside her father, Jon Voight, in the 1980s, but her career didn't begin to burgeon until the turn of the century with Girl, Interrupted, for which she won an Academy Award. Her starring role as the iconic video game heroine, Lara Croft, in the 2001 and 2003 Tomb Raider adaptations established Jolie as a leading action star, which she soon followed up with Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Though she hasn't starred in a proper action film lately, Eternals is expected to revitalize her place within the genre.

In the upcoming Marvel film, Jolie joins a true ensemble cast, which includes another A-lister in Salma Hayek. Game of Thrones alums Richard Madden and Kit Harrington also star along with Kumail Nanjiani, Gemma Chan, Brian Tyree Henry, and Barry Keoghan. They make up the titular team known as the Eternals, an alien race who must emerge from hiding after thousands of years to defend Earth against their evil counterparts, the Deviants. From director Chloé Zhao, Eternals is clearly going to deviate from Marvel's standard superhero fare and now, Jolie is revealing that her training regimen also strayed from the norm.

To prepare for her role in Eternals, Jolie took ballet lessons and learned how to use an array of different weapons, even though she didn't physically use them while filming, as they were later added digitally during post-production, according to EW. This whole process made the actress "feel a little nuts" and she likened performing these scenes to "a puzzle." Read what Jolie had to say below:

It is one of the weirdest things to train for because you're throwing things, grabbing things, breaking things in half. You feel a little nuts. You're just throwing your hand out as if you're thinking, "Is that a sword? Is that a spear? Is it a lasso? What am I doing?" Then you get into it and it gets really fun, but it's a puzzle.

Jolie also admitted Eternals is "certainly the biggest thing" she's ever done, which is saying a lot for someone who has been starring in blockbusters for 20+ years and has even gotten behind the camera for the World War II drama Unbroken. In Eternals, Jolie plays an elite and acrobatic warrior named Thena who can conjure any weapon out of cosmic energy. This required a heavy amount of CGI, which is why Jolie had to undergo such a strange training regimen.

The process an actor undergoes to train for a superhero movie has always been of interest to fans, especially now that many stars document their progress on social media. Dwayne Johnson's intense workout plan in the leadup to Black Adam was highly publicized, while Captain Marvel's Brie Larson always makes waves with her workout posts online. Jolie hasn't been as transparent about her training process, but her performance will likely have everyone talking when Eternals releases on November 5.
