The Eternals’ spaceship and technology explained. The trailer for Eternals touted the ancient aliens as the overseers of humanity, guiding them towards achieving progress that has allowed them to evolve over thousands of years. The immortal, god-like beings are first seen arriving on Earth in a unique spaceship and, despite not interfering in human affairs, have an abundance of technology and weapons they will put to use.

Fans first get a glimpse of the Eternals’ advanced technology with their arrival on Earth. Their spaceship isn’t a stereotypical rendering of such a craft, with the Eternals’ ship a sleek triangular shape covered in gold designs that look as though it could be their alien language. The spaceship seems to be connected to the Eternals, who control it with their cosmic energy, which is physically translated into the golden shapes that appear on the side of the ship.

Their spaceship is so advanced that they were able to travel through space while humanity was still in its infancy. The spaceship itself is silent, though it seems to serve primarily as the Eternals’ vessel for travel, to discuss plans, and their sleeping quarters all at once. Phastos creates from within, while Makkari speed-reads inside a room. Basically, the spaceship is their primary base of operations, at least at first, before they branch out into the world as watchers. The spaceship itself, however, is but one object in a repertoire of advanced technology the Eternals not only use in combat and to aid humans in their evolution, but can also create themselves. It's likely they also created their spaceship.

The Eternals’ tech is a mixture of science and magic. Since the immortal beings are ancient aliens who have unlimited resources thanks to their powers, they can create pretty much anything on their own. Their being all-powerful immortals means they  Their abilities — including telekinesis, creating illusions, and matter manipulation — allow them to aid humanity’s own technological advancements, powering their civilizations while they work behind the scenes. In the comics, the Eternal Phastos is notable for developing the god-like beings’ technology and weapons. He also has a hammer that can blast energy and which allows him to control all kinds of machinery. The Eternals trailer teases some of Phastos’ creations and he is shown bringing a golden weapon into existence with the use of his cosmic energy powers — one that will no doubt be used by the Eternals in their mission.

Thena’s golden sword, for example, seems to be an extension of her own cosmic powers, which she uses to shape other kinds of weapons that are used in combat, including a spear. Meanwhile, Sersi can use her own ability to manipulate matter to bring water to local villagers to aid in their farming. Ultimately, the Eternals’ ability to create such advanced technology was to aid them in supporting humanity. As Eternals is gearing up to showcase the titular heroes as more than just humanity’s guardians, fans should expect the film to employ the Eternals’ creations to also fight the Deviants, their villainous counterparts.
