Disneyland unveiled the new walk around characters based on the latest Marvel film, Eternals, which makes one of the stars of the film, Kumail Nanjiani, uncomfortable. Eternals follows the titular group, a race of aliens that emerge from hiding after thousands of years to protect Earth from their evil counterparts, the Deviants. Nanjiani stars in the film alongside an ensemble cast featuring Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Brian Tyree Henry, and Angelina Jolie.

Nanjiani is known for his work on HBO's Silicon Valley and receiving an Academy Award nomination for writing The Big Sick, a true story based on how he met his wife. Eternals is the 26th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was directed by Academy Award-winner, Chloé Zhao, and is the third film in Phase 4 of the MCU's release plan. Nanjiani had already turned heads before the movie was released, gaining considerable muscle mass in preparation for the role.

Now, Nanjiani has now tweeted about the new walk around characters, featuring his own character Kingo, an Eternal who can project cosmic energy projectiles from his hands. The actor stated that his theme park double shouldn't be more handsome than him, facetiously worrying about the double replacing him in the movie. He then encouraged his followers to see the film, which was released on November 5. Check out Nanjiani's post below:

Eternals has already made news for receiving the lowest score on Rotten Tomatoes in MCU history. The film has been criticized for its storytelling and runtime, but has received praise for its visuals and performances. Though, with such a large fanbase already built in, the film is still expected to make a profit at the box office.

Though it may just be a blip in the big picture, Eternals may suggest a weariness, at least from critics, of the formulaic blockbuster that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is known for creating and mass producing. Zhao is just one of many indie directors swept into the big budget spectacle of the MCU, with Ryan Coogler, Destin Daniel Cretton, and Taika Waititi all directing films for the entertainment conglomerate. With the templates of the films long established, one wonders if cracks are beginning to show, where sweeping CGI visuals and large scopes can only be utilized for so long before audiences become wary of the predictability. In the end, Eternals will still make lots of money at the box office and will allow artists like Zhao and Nanjiani to work on projects that can only be made by them.
