New set photos from Marvel's Eternals confirms a romance between Kit Harington and Gemma Chan's characters. Production is well underway on the latest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and there have been plenty of reveals to come from the set. Director Chloé Zhao has led filming all over the globe and brought the all-star cast assembled by Marvel Studios with her. Headlined by the likes of Angelina Jolie and Salma Hayek, Eternals will focus on a group of genetically enhanced humans in a story that spans thousands of years.
Even with the big names featured in the cast, it is Chan who appears to be the lead of Eternals, which is a significant step up in her second MCU role. Her Sersi has been the star of many set photos that reflect the personality of the character comic fans are familiar with. Unlike her fellow Eternals, Sersi enjoys being among humans on Earth. This allowed her to eventually become an Avenger in the comics, which is where she also had a romantic relationship with the human Avenger Dane Whitman, known as Black Knight. Marvel previously announced that Kit Harington would play Black Knight in Eternals and left many wondering if this romance would make its way to the big screen.
After repeatedly being spotted together during filming, the latest batch of set photos for Eternals confirms the Black Knight-Sersi romance will be featured. The new images come from Page Six, who shared a collection of photos from a scene between Harington and Chan. The two stars make the romance between their characters clear with the images capturing a kiss between them. Check out one of the photos below:
The confirmation of the romance between Dane and Sersi comes on the heels of growing speculation that it would be featured in Eternals. The duo was recently spotted filming together and appeared to be getting very close during that set of production. It even appears that these images are from the same scene. What is not known is if this is the first kiss shared between the characters or potentially a final kiss goodbye if Sersi and the Eternals are leaving Earth behind.
Now that fans know Sersi and Black Knight will be romantically involved, there is hope that they can be the next great MCU romance. Captain America and Peggy Carter is still arguably the top romance - one that also received the perfect ending in Avengers: Endgame - but Sersi and Dane could be a new relationship to carry the MCU forward. And hopefully, Harington's latest fictional romance ends better than his last one. We'll have to wait until November though to see how this romance plays out when Eternals arrives in theaters.
