As the brother of Thanos, Starfox (Harry Styles) appearing in Marvel’s Eternals movie has created questions about his power level in the MCU. Since Thanos (Josh Brolin) is one of the strongest foes that the MCU’s heroes have ever crossed paths with, it makes sense that a character blood-related to him has the potential to be incredibly powerful. However, his brief appearance in Eternals didn’t provide any clues about his powers or what he’s capable of in a fight.

The movie didn’t show much of Harry Styles’ MCU character, but did tease him having an important presence in future projects involving the Eternals. In the mid-credits scene, Starfox aka Eros made his grand entrance alongside his sidekick, Pip the Troll, who introduced the former as a prince of Titan and a galactic hero with an impressive list of accomplishments. If everything that Pip said about Thanos’ brother and his adventures across the universe is even remotely true, Starfox is certainly in a position to be a formidable ally to the Eternals going forward, and possibly even a future member of the Avengers in Phase 5.

It's worth wondering just how powerful Starfox really is in the MCU, and how he compares to his brother. How he was utilized in Marvel Comics sheds light on what the hero may bring to the table. In the comics, his signature power was his ability to telepathically manipulate the pleasure center of a person’s brain. However, this was far from the extent of his powerset. Starfox could fly and possessed a high degree of super strength that outclassed that of heroes like Spider-Man, Beast, and Wolverine, but was a few levels below Marvel’s biggest powerhouses. Starfox was not in the same class as Hulk, Thor, or Thanos. So despite having plenty of raw power, it was never enough for him to overpower his brother on his own.

If Starfox’s powers are at all similar to his comic counterpart, it’s likely that he would have fared better against Thanos than most of the heroes in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. And though he might have been strong enough to make an impact if he had been present in Endgame’s final battle, he would have lost in a one-on-one showdown. The comics have proven that Starfox is capable of hurting him and fast enough to dodge several of his blows, but he typically struggles to hold up against Thanos’ physical might in prolonged encounters.

The good news for the MCU’s Starfox is that because of the events that took place in Endgame, there won’t be a need for him to oppose his brother in any future movies. It’s possible that if he did have what it takes to beat Thanos, the villain’s killing spree wouldn’t have lasted as long as it did. In fact, there’s a chance that fights between the two have already occurred. If so, more could be learned about Starfox’s life before Eternals and his history with Thanos whenever he makes his next MCU appearance.
