The introduction of the team’s spaceship in Eternals rules out the possibility of one Marvel Comics character appearing in the MCU. Known as the Domo, the ship was part of a larger change to the origin of the Eternals and their purpose in Marvel’s world. Unlike the comic characters who were always based on Earth, the Eternals traveled to the planet at the behest of the Celestials.

The decision to reveal that the Eternals' spaceship is called “the Domo” indicates that the character who shares this name in the comic books doesn’t exist in the MCU. It would seem that instead of introducing him as a member of the group or saving him for later, Marvel has elected to simply pay homage to him through the ship. As for how the ship and the comic character are linked, the reason likely relates to the ship being a product of highly advanced technology created by the Celestials. Domo’s character was defined by tech, as he had an almost robotic design in the 1970s and 1980s comics.

Domo In The Marvel Comics Explained

Domo flies in his chariot in Eternals comics.

Introduced alongside the other major members of the Eternals in the original 1976 title, Domo was a minor character in Marvel Comics. Like so many of the others, Domo was a resident of Olympia, the secret city of the Eternals. In the comics, he was officially designated as Olympia's chief administrator. This job called for him to act as a personal assistant to Zuras, the leader of the Eternals. As for his abilities, it can be assumed that Domo possessed the various powers associated with his species. However, the full scope of his capabilities was never shown, as he wasn’t actually a superhero or someone regularly involved in the action.

Domo’s very limited presence in the comics, combined with the fact that Phastos easily fills the role of the team’s tech expert, makes sense of why he wasn’t involved in the movie. And interestingly, he’s not the only Eternals character whose chances of joining the MCU were made slim by the events of the movie. The same can also be said for Karkas and the Reject, two Deviants who ultimately became allies of the Eternals and heroes in their own right. Based on how Eternals reimagined the Deviant concept, it’s hard to imagine either character being adapted either.

Eternals Already Teased More Eternal Characters

While Marvel may have no intention of using Eternals characters like Domo in the MCU’s future, more can certainly appear. Harry Styles’ Starfox showing up in the movie’s post-credits scene was proof of that. His cameo could easily be followed up by appearances from other missing characters, such as Zuras, Kronos, Valkin, and Virako. If and when the studio gets ready to explore what came next for the heroes who met Starfox and Pip the Troll in space, Marvel can explore the other branches of the Eternals that exist in the various corners of the galaxy.
