The stars of Eternals have revealed which Marvel characters they’d most like to meet or fight in the MCU. Marvel Studios’ latest big-screen blockbuster is directed by Oscar-winner Chloé Zhao and stars an ensemble cast that includes Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, Harish Patel, Kit Harington, Salma Hayek, and Angelina Jolie. Eternals releases in theaters in the U.S. on November 5, 2021.

Every new Marvel movie introduces fresh faces to the MCU multiverse, but Eternals is bringing a whole secret race of super-people never before seen in live-action. The new film focuses primarily on the Eternals’ relationships with one another and their ongoing struggle against the villainous Deviants, but future films will surely see them crossing paths with the likes of Shang-Chi, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Thor, and the Guardians of the Galaxy.

In a new exclusive interview with Screen Rant, the Eternals cast members have revealed the Marvel characters they would most like to meet in future MCU installments, and why. Some of the answers were more focused on fun in-universe pairings, while others reflected the real-world friendships between the Eternals stars and some of their peers in other MCU films. While none of these meetups are guaranteed to happen, it would be fun to see the core MCU characters react to and interact with the newcomers. Check out some of the Eternals cast members’ answers below.

Richard Madden: “I think with these characters I love and watch, I'd love to see Ikaris, Thor and Iron Man all eating pizza and having a beer. I think that would be quite a fun scene to watch, but that's as far as I've thought about it.”

Don Lee: “Maybe I will fight Hulk. And I can team up with Spider-Man.”

Lia McHugh: “I'm just thinking of this now. I don't know how I didn't think of this before. But, of course, Spider-Man. Tom Holland, duh. I would absolutely love to be in a movie with him.”

Angelina Jolie: “There have been some secret conversations. We're all having little secret conversations, and we're all trying to figure out if Kevin already knows.”

Salma Hayek: “Well, I think she can really take down Thor. We've had this conversation.”

Angelina Jolie: “Easy. Challenge to Chris.”

Salma Hayek: “I'd love to have some philosophical conversations with Deadpool.”

Angelina Jolie: “I think that'd be hilarious.”

Barry Keoghan: “It would be Adam Warlock, now that you say it. I was hoping that there'd be one more interview that would ask that, and there it is. I would love to cross paths and again, being a big Will Poulter fan and my friend, it just, yeah. There's so much room there to have fun and explore as well. Isn't it? And The Guardians of the Galaxy as well, which I love.”

The Eternals cast on a beach

While they surely won’t all happen canonically in the MCU, a lot of the matchings between the Eternals cast and the other Marvel heroes would definitely be fun to see. A scene of Ikaris and Thor just hanging out together would be hilarious, and a battle between Gilgamesh and the Hulk would be tense, to say the least. Hayek’s invocation of Deadpool obviously isn’t possible quite yet, as the character hasn’t appeared in the MCU officially, but when he does join, that too could be a fun pairing.

As of now, the Eternals’ future in the MCU is unclear. They could become a major staple in the franchise for years to come, like the Guardians of the Galaxy have been since their introduction in Phase 2, or they could remain more independent. Because of the sheer number of characters in the group, putting them in any Avengers-style mashup movie would be tricky. Still, there’s a lot of potential for the Eternals in the future of the MCU, and it should be exciting to see how that potential manifests.
