Kingo actor Kumail Nanjiani reveals new details of an alternate scene from Eternals with Harry Styles' Eros. Eternals was one of the most anticipated movies in the MCU's recent history, with audiences and critics alike eager to see what director Chloé Zhao could create within the Marvel franchise. The anticipation was especially high due to Zhao's prior movie Nomadland winning the Oscar for Best Director and Best Picture. Sadly, Eternals ended up being one of the more divisive MCU films.

Speaking at a taping of Josh Horowitz's Happy Sad Confused podcast, Nanjiani revealed new details about an alternate scene with Styles' Eros. Eros is the brother of Marvel villain Thanos and made his MCU debut in the Eternals mid-credits scene. Eros and his assistant Pip the Troll met Thena, Makkari, and Druig, offering to help them find other Eternals. Nanjiani explained that the alternate Eternals scene would've featured Kingo alongside Styles' Eros. Check out the full quote below:

We actually shot a different scene with Harry Styles because the ending now, my character is not in that scene. But we shot a version where I was with him. And it was a very, it was a different sort of post-credit sequence...We didn’t really talk. We just sort of like made eyes at each other from afar. No, it was sort of, I don’t know if I’m allowed to say... You’re gonna get me in trouble. No, it was a completely different, completely different.

What We Know Of The Eternals' Future

At the end of Eternals, the movie's characters are left divided. Sersi, Phastos, and Kingo are taken into space by the Celestial Arishem. Due to their treason in stopping the Emergence, Arishem tells them he will judge humanity based on the Eternals' memories, sparing Earth if they reveal humans are worthy of living. Meanwhile, Thena, Druig, and Makkari are aboard the Domo when they encounter Eros and Pip.

Not much is currently known about Marvel's future plans for the Eternals. There's been no official word about a sequel, and in November, Nanjiani seemingly debunked co-star Patton Oswalt's claims that one was in the works. If the sequel gets the green light, Eternals 2 could reveal Eros as the villain. Although he appeared to be a friend to the Eternals in the mid-credits scene, the character's controversial use of his persuasion powers in the comics could factor into how Styles' character develops in the MCU. In the case that Eros is indeed revealed to be the villain of Eternals 2 after helping the team for most of the movie, that twist would be in line with the original Eternals and its handling of Ikaris.

Can Harry Styles’ Eros Appear In Other MCU Projects?

Even if another Eternals movie doesn't come to fruition, Eros' connection to the Avengers could see the character pop up in other projects. Eros adopted the superhero name of Starfox for a time in the comics. As a member of the Avengers, Starfox interacted with recent MCU additions such as Monica Rambeau and She-Hulk, both of whom could be interesting choices to see Styles' Eros interact with in the future. As for Sersi, Kingo, and the others, audiences will need to keep an eye out for updates on the status of the Eternals sequel, even if its future might seem bleak now.
