There were few scenes in Avengers: Endgame more talked about than the one known as "the A-Force" scene. In case you have just been nodding your head and acting like you know what that is when you don't, it is those few seconds when Peter Parker hands the gauntlet over to Captain Marvel. He doesn't know how she will hold Thanos off alone, and then we hear Wanda Maximoff inform him that she won't be alone. The camera pans out to reveal every living female character to help Carol do what needs to be done. In the world of #MeToo and #TimesUp, this shot was everything for many fans. There have been many discussions in the fandom about Marvel needing more diversity and the unhappiness that it took 21 films to have a film led solely by a female character finally.

It brought the conversation around to the A-Force - the only all-female Avengers team in the Marvel world. The comics introduced them under the overarching Secret Wars storyline in 2015. Led by She-Hulk, the original members are Captain Marvel, America Chavez, Medusa, Nico Minoru, and Singularity. Only Captain Marvel exists in the current MCU. Though a She-Hulk series that will be in the current MCU timeline is coming on DisneyPlus, fans love to postulate as to what existing characters could fill the ranks if Kevin Feige and team were to give in and let us have the A-Force movie.

Could: Maria Hill

Maria Hill listening to Nick Fury in The Avengers

Maria Hill is one of the few characters used in both the MCU's big and small screen worlds. Fury's number two, she can be counted on to have the back of anyone on the team; as proven on both Agents of Shield and across many installments on the big screen, Hill would be a great addition to any team.

A mix between Nick Fury, Hawkeye, Phil Coulson, and Black Widow. She may not have any superpowers but is more than able to hold her own as well as any other human who has fought at the side of enhanced beings, and it would be a joy to see her fill that role in a bigger way in an A-Force movie.

Shouldn't: Virginia "Pepper" Potts

Pepper Potts in Rescue armor Avengers: Endgame

Pepper Potts has been with the MCU since the start. Being the steady hand to guide Tony, she was a great character - but having Extremis removed at the end of Iron Man 3 sealed her fate.

In the books with the Extremis virus in her system, Pepper does a stint as the hero Rescue. Though they could do a flip and undo the Extremis removal, it wouldn't work. Pepper has already sacrificed so much for the hero game. Seeing her and her daughter at risk serve on the all-female team would be hard for audiences to swallow.

Could: Hope Van Dyne (Wasp)

Hope gets to see the Wasp suit for the first time in Ant-Man

One of the most likely candidates to fill a role for the on-screen team is Hope as Wasp. As one of the most independent and strongest females to grace the screen, Wasp is definitely capable of being a good teammate for the A-Force. She is a natural protector and can lead as well as follow. Her willingness to work with her father in the first Ant-Man proved she will always put the common good first.

Her single-minded devotion to finding her mother shows the commitment and loyalty needed to play well with others. She would fit into an all-female Avengers team like she was made to do so. It would be a joy to see more of her onscreen, especially interacting with other characters past her parents and Scott Lang.

Shouldn't: Mantis

Mantis Guardians of the Galaxy

Mantis is an interesting yet awkward character onscreen. She is fine within the Galaxy's universe because all of the Guardians are outcasts. The whole underlying message of GotG is that they are misfits who in each other find family and a sense of purpose.

Mantis would not mesh well with many other characters, especially some of the stronger, more serious MCU characters that would be good on A-Force. She should stay exclusively with the Guardians and search for the out of time Gamora. Also, she is onscreen gold with Drax.

Could: Shuri

Shuri

The popularity of Shuri when Black Panther came out was something Marvel Studios wasn't prepared for. Between her sparkling intelligence, pure joy with life, and ability to go toe to toe with T'Challa, she quickly became a fan favorite. When it was revealed that she was one of the fallen in The Snap, there was an outcry that she didn't get screentime for it.

Before that, we saw her fighting at the heroes' side with her high-tech gadgets to stave off Thanos' army. When she popped out of one of the portals in Endgame, there were cheers just for her. She would make an amazing addition to any A-Force team, and they definitely would need her gadgets.

Shouldn't: Nebula

Nebula is a great anti-hero. She shouldn't be put onto the A-Force team because her tie to goodness is in her tie with Gamora. As much as they drive each other to compete and try to outdo each other, they love each other. They are sisters above everything else, and that is what works for Nebula. It grounds her in being able to do the right thing - but not always in the most honorable way.

Though she is a wonderful character portrayed brilliantly, Nebula should stay in the Guardians' world.

Could: Valkyrie

Valkyrie

Valkyrie is the kind of prickly character that would work well here. She may have gone through a period of grief and withdrawal, becoming a virtual bounty hunter for the Grandmaster, but when she decides to jump back into the world, she does so with both feet and with her full heart.

As the next "king" of Asgard, she may have a lot on her plate but likely can take some time off to pal around with the A-Force. Even a ruler needs friends with the same interest, and there has not been a character on the screen with Valkyrie yet who she did not vibe with. Seeing her in an A-Force movie would only bring the team to the next level of greatness.

Shouldn't: Wanda Maximoff (Scarlet Witch)

Scarlet Witch MCU

Wanda doesn't play well in large groups. She is impulsive and lets her emotions guide her decisions way too easily. Though she is an awesome character and one of the most powerful on the page or screen, she is better for partnerships or working in a small group.

On the more practical side of it, between the upcoming WandaVision series on DisneyPlus and is slated to play a major role in the future sequel Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the MCU needs to let those two play out to see where Wanda ends up belonging in their multiverse.

Could: Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel)

Captain Marvel's final battle

As the only existing A-Force character in the MCU, Captain Marvel is basically a requirement for an A-Force movie. Ignoring the controversies cooked up by trolls, Captain Marvel had a hugely successful entry into the MCU. Being well received and eighth overall in MCU box-office hits, she's going to return. Captain Marvel 2 has been confirmed for a July 2020 release.

It is also well known that she is meant to take over one of the leadership roles as the OG six leave the franchise. Having her at the helm of a team she already has Marvel ties to would be a great way to help bring around the minority of extremely loud critics.

Shouldn't: Gamora

Gamora Guardians of the Galaxy

There is one reason and one alone why Gamora should not be on any onscreen A-Force. The Gamora that left at the close of Endgame was not the Gamora at the beginning of Avengers: Infinity War. She was a Gamora out of time that had not had the experiences the beloved Gamora had before Thanos sacrificed her for the Soul Stone.

That is why Gamora is the top character that should be left out of any A-Force movie. Old Gamora should be there with a huge responsibility role. This Gamora will need some more time to become the solid character we all know and love.
