Sylvester Stallone has revealed Escape Plan 3 is now titled The Extractors: Escape Plan. While The Expendables franchise had briefly paired Arnold Schwarzenegger and Stallone together onscreen, the original Escape Plan was the first to team them up for a whole movie. While this might have blown the minds of action movie fans in the 1980s or 1990s, it wasn’t quite so impressive in 2013. That said, it was an enjoyable prison break movie and the two stars had good chemistry together.
Escape Plan was a modest hit in the U.S. but did great business overseas, and it was announced in 2016 that a sequel was moving forward. Schwarzenegger opted not to return so Stallone’s Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 co-star Dave Bautista was brought on to play a new character. 50 Cent also returned as computer hacker Hush, but Escape Plan 2: Hades itself was greeted with mostly negative reviews upon release last year. The screentime for both Stallone and Bautista was minimal, the various fight scenes were uninspired and it felt like a cheaply made sequel trying to cash in on the success of the original.

Shortly after filming wrapped on Escape Plan 2, it was confirmed Stallone and Bautista would immediately start work on Escape Plan 3. The third movie sees their characters team up once again to infiltrate another inescapable prison, and in a new Instagram post, Stallone reveals the movie is now called The Extractors: Escape Plan.
Prior to this reveal, the movie was dubbed Escape Plan 3: Devil’s Station, named after the prison Stallone’s Ray Breslin has to infiltrate. The story also sees Breslin targeted by the son of his corrupt former business partner from the original film, who was played by Vincent D’Onofrio. Devon Sawa (Final Destination) plays this character, with Stallone’s behind the scenes video showing the two actors filming a brutal fight sequence.
Stallone’s post also teases The Extractors: Escape Plan is due for release "fairly" soon. Hopefully, the new sequel will be an improvement on Escape Plan 2, and it already looks like Stallone will have a bigger role than the extended cameo he made last time around. The previous movie went straight to DVD in most territories, so a similar release plan should be expected for the latest sequel. Stallone himself is having a busy time with sequels, with Rambo V: Last Blood set for release this Fall and The Expendables 4 due to start filming sometime this year. Beyond that, he’s lined up an adaptation of horror/sci-fi novel Hunter as a star vehicle, in addition to dark superhero project Samaritan.
