As the coronavirus pandemic continues to sweep the globe, Epic Games is offering up two free titles to pass the time: Watch Dogs and The Stanley Parable. Both these titles are currently available to download free of charge in Epic’s online store and are great distractions during the long drought of social isolation.

Both these titles have been big hits with players due to their gameplay, and are as different as day and night. 2014’s Watch Dogs tells the action-packed story of hacker Aiden Pearce as he looks to avenge the murder of his niece by using his smartphone to hijack all manner of traffic lights and bank accounts in a free-roaming, open-world environment. Meanwhile, The Stanley Parable, which began life as a mod for Half-Life 2 back in 2011 before being released as a standalone title in later years, follows the quiet life of the titular Stanley as players guide him through countless narrative choices. British actor Kevan Brighting provides a running narration to guide players, who can choose to either follow or ignore his advice in order to unlock multiple endings.

As of today, both Watch Dogs and The Stanley Parable are available to download in Epic Games online store free of charge until March 26, as part of an ongoing wave of such offerings from the distributor in recent months. Players will be required to verify their email account with publisher Ubisoft in order to play Watch Dogs, but other than that anyone can log on to the Epic Store and snag both of these hit titles completely free for about a week’s time.

This is just the latest in a number of free giveaways from Epic, which has previously been offering players a free game every week since 2019 to much acclaim from customers. These titles have ranged from smaller indie games like 2018’s mountain climbing platformer Celeste to major triple-A releases like the much-beloved Batman: Arkham series. To many gamers, this devotion to free, high-level content puts Epic above competitors like Steam, a sentiment some game publishers seem to agree with.

With the ongoing coronavirus pandemic forcing people to stay home for extended periods of time, Epic’s efforts to provide players with free games as deep and repayable as Watch Dogs and The Stanley Parable are surely appreciated. Both of these titles offer much to gamers, and having such high-quality titles available completely free of charge is no doubt a plus for customers in a continuing show of goodwill from Epic in an uncertain time. Players can now download Watch Dogs and The Stanley Parable for free on the Epic Store from now until March 26.
