Grand Theft Auto V is still one of the few games that maintain a peak average player count of around one hundred thousand per month. With content steadily released over the course of 7 years since it's release in 2013, there have been many reasons for players to make consecutive returns. One feature added to the game that provided players with a ton more freedom is Director Mode. Director Mode allows players to completely alter many of the game's rules including things like ammo capacity, readily available firearms, and the character players can control.

The era of cheat codes has long since passed. Once live updates and patches became commonplace on all gaming platforms, bugs and unintended game-breaking happenstances are eliminated before players can take advantage of them for too long. Now, cheats are sort of given to players by the developers themselves either out of nostalgia or an attempt to provide players with more entertainment; Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled would be one other example. For most cases, "modding" is the more current approach for altering a game's functions and is even sanctioned in some cases such as Skyrim and Fall Out by Bethesda. Director Mode is GTA 5's answer to this change and grants players the opportunity to go absolutely buck wild with cheats. Here's how players can unlock it.

How to Unlock Director Mode in GTA V

There are a couple of ways to access Director Mode, and the first would be through the Rockstar Editor. Hit the menu button and scroll all the way to the right. There, players will come across the editor which is used for fine-tuning clips and other media that can later be shared. Toward the bottom "Director Mode" should be listed and readily accessible. The next method is through the interaction menu. This feature hasn't always been around but was added so that players could access more important features on the fly. On Xbox hit the view button, for PlayStation, it's the touchpad, and on PC the M key. Once it's up, scroll to the bottom and Director Mode will be listed. Another way it is to call the "Acting Up" number on the phone. This will force a phone call that will allow players to engage Director Mode. This method had an older feature that was more "cheat code" style because players had to manually enter a phone number to get there. It was 1-999-57-825368 which spelled JRTALENT after the nines. It's also important to know that players cannot engage director mode while they are wanted, inside of a vehicle, in an online lobby, or on an active mission.
