Millie Bobby Brown stars as Sherlock's sister in the first trailer for Netflix's Enola Holmes. Brown first rose to fame while playing Eleven in Stranger Thingsa role that has scored her two Emmy nominations. Her first major film role came last year with Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and she'll return for its follow-up, Godzilla vs. Kong. Of course, she'll also reprise her role as Eleven for the fourth season of Stranger Things, which has been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. For those impatiently awaiting the next season of the beloved paranormal showNetflix is ready to supply the latest project starring Brown.

Enola Holmes is based on the young adult novels by Nancy Springer and follows the 14-year-old sister of famous detective Sherlock Holmes (Henry Cavill). In this installment, Enola wakes up one day to discover her mother (Helena Bonham Carter) has gone missing. Her older brothers Sherlock and Mycroft (Sam Claflin) wish to send her to boarding school, but Enola takes matters into her own hands and slips off to London to discover what happened to her mother.

Netflix has officially unveiled the first bit of Enola Holmes footage, as well as a clever little puzzle regarding its release date. The trailer, while quick, gives audiences a glimpse at Enola Holmes' many supporting players, including Sherlock himself. It ends with the first real look at Brown as Enola, who turns to the camera with a cheeky greeting. You can see it for yourself down below.

When one works out the puzzle found in the tweet, it's revealed Enola Holmes will be released on Netflix on September 23. Presumably, a longer trailer will follow in the coming weeks, but for now, this is a fun introduction to the character. The trailer has a similar vibe to last year's hit whodunit Knives Out, and if Enola Holmes turns out anything like that, it'll be a success. As it is, Enola Holmes looks like it will be a fitting showcase for Brown's talent. Already, Enola looks very different than the quiet and serious Eleven, so this should be a lot of fun.

Back in June, Netflix was hit with a lawsuit from Arthur Conan Doyle's estate over Enola Holmes. According to the suit, Enola Holmes' depiction of an empathetic Sherlock comes from Doyle's few works that remain outside the public domain and therefore is a copyright violation. It remains to be seen how that lawsuit will shake out, but Netflix is clearly ready to press forward with the marketing for Enola Holmes. Netflix has found great success with several of its original films this year, from Extraction to The Old Guard, and if things go according to plan, Enola Holmes could be the next big hit.
