Netflix has released a playful poster for their upcoming film Enola Holmes 2, featuring stars Millie Bobby Brown and Henry Cavill hiding in a crowd. The original Enola Holmes, which was based on the first novel in the Nancy Springer young adult series of the same name, starred Brown as the youngest sibling of famed sleuth Sherlock Holmes, who was played by Cavill. The film, which followed Enola attempting to solve her mother's disappearance, also starred Sam Claflin as her brother Mycroft and Helena Bonham Carter as her mother Eudoria, along with an ensemble cast that included Louis Partridge, Adeel Akhtar, Susie Wokoma, and Harry Potter alum Fiona Shaw.

Enola Holmes wasn't originally a Netflix exclusive, as it was slated for a theatrical release by Warner Bros. before the COVID-19 pandemic shut down theaters for an indeterminate period in March 2020. However, Netflix had a much surer hand in the development of Enola Holmes 2, which is due on the platform later this year. The plot of the movie is currently unknown, but if they continue forward in the series and adapt the second book, The Case of the Left-Handed Lady, it will see Enola infiltrating the family of Lady Cecily Alistair, who vanished from her bedroom. The film will also feature the return of Bonham Carter, Partridge, Akthar, and Wokoma, joined by Sharon Duncan-Brewster and Shaw's former Harry Potter co-star David Thewlis.

On their official Twitter account, Netflix shared a teaser poster for Enola Holmes 2. The image is a Where's Waldo-esque crowd of people that includes Cavill and Brown in costume as their Enola Holmes characters. This is the first official look at both stars' triumphant returns to the roles. Check out the poster below:

The playful poster doesn't even include the title of the film. It's asking fans to put on their sleuth hats and get to the bottom of the image. They've certainly managed to evoke the bubbly, scrappy, mystery-solving spirit of the franchise, the continuation of which depends very much on the success of this sequel capturing that tone just as well as the original.

So far, Netflix has not announced an official release date for Enola Holmes 2. Given the fact that this poster is merely a teaser rather than a trailer or a more explicit poster that properly includes the film's title, there is likely still some time before the film drops on the streaming platform. However, Netflix doesn't tend to promote their projects too far in advance, so it seems likely that the project will come by November 2022, just a few months after the second anniversary of the original film, which was released in September 2020.
