Disney has officially revealed the first logo for DisenchantedThe upcoming film is the long-awaited sequel to 2007's Enchanted, in which an animated Disney Princess is thrown into the real, live-action world and forced to reconsider her fairytale values, while she at the same time challenges the cynicism of the divorce lawyer that takes her in. Disenchanted is written and directed by Adam Shankman and set to release as a Disney+ exclusive in 2022.

The Enchanted sequel sees the return of many major characters from the original, including Amy Adams' Giselle, Patrick Dempsey's Robert, James Marsden's Prince Edward, and Idina Menzel's Nancy. Based on the synopsis, however, things might be a little less rosy for all involved this time around. Set fifteen years after Giselle and Robert fall in love, Disenchanted has the former princess-to-be feeling at odds with her new suburban life, and she makes a wish that her family's lives could be the perfect fairytale. When that backfires, Giselle is forced to race against time to save both the people she loves and the entire Kingdom of Andalasia.

Alongside the returning Enchanted stars are a number of new characters, likely again a mix of animated and live-action. Maya Rudolph's Malvina Monroe is positioned as the villain of Disenchanted, described as a leader of the Monroeville suburban community who has it out for Giselle and her family. The as-yet undescribed Rosaleen, Ruby, and Edgar are played by a trio of sitcom stars: Community's Yvette Nicole-Brown, Glee's Jayma Mays, and The Office's Oscar Nunez. Gabriella Baldacchino will star as Morgan, Robert's daughter from his previous marriage, replacing Enchanted's Rachel Covey.

With no footage yet released, fans will be eager to discover clues in the new Disenchanted logo, and there are a couple to be found. The typography hollows-out the entirely golden lettering of the original film's title, perhaps reflecting how the luster on Giselle's happily ever after has started to fade. Most importantly, however, the "A" is partially written with a magic wand, with a Blue Fairy-esque sparkly trail tracing its arc - could Adams' former Princess-in-waiting encounter her Fairy Godmother, another classic Disney trope? Fans will have to wait for another update from the Disenchanted team to find out.
