Encanto co-director Jared Bush reveals a subtle but cool detail in the background of Mirabel and Isabela's big song. Also directed by Byron Howard and Charise Castro Smith, Disney's Encanto is the animated sensation of the moment. The colorful musical, which was first released in theaters last November, tells the story of young Mirabel Madrigal (Stephanie Beatriz) and her magical family. While everyone around her has a special ability gifted by their casita, Mirabel was left without one. However, when the casita begins to lose its magic, Mirabel might be the only one who can save the day.

Encanto has won over audiences everywhere with its infectious soundtrack, emotional themes, and compelling cast of characters. Each member of the Madrigal family gets at least one moment to shine, particularly when it comes to Mirabel's sisters. Encanto establishes early on that Mirabel has a strained relationship with her seemingly perfect older sister Isabela (Diane Guerrero), and it isn't until they open up to each other with the duet "What Else Can I Do?" that they finally learn to see each other for who they really are.

Since Encanto was released, Bush has revealed numerous tidbits about the film on social media. Most recently, he pointed out a subtle detail in the background of "What Else Can I Do?" that makes the scene just a bit sweeter. Aided by a video of Beatriz and Guerrero recording the song, Bush said the creative team spent "YEARS" refining the relationship between Mirabel and Isabela to make it perfect. He added that "our #Encanto FX teams bloomed thousands of flowers behind them like a Jumbotron." Check it out below.

In a way, Mirabel and Isabela help form the emotional core of Encanto's back half. Mirabel is convinced a hug from Isabela is all it takes to save the casita, so she seeks it out without truly wanting to repair things between them. However, over the course of "What Else Can I Do?", the truth behind Isabela's perfect veneer is finally revealed, and something beautiful grows between the two sisters. The Jumbrotron detail just highlights how their reconciliation is viewed as a major achievement for the both of them; it might not have resulted in the magic being fixed, but it is still very momentous on a personal level.

Encanto has reached a level of breakout success that few films ever truly achieve, and it's been an impressive thing to watch. It is currently up for 3 Oscars and stands a good chance of winning at least one. Plus, Disney has signaled its interest in making Encanto a proper franchise. It isn't yet clear what that would look like, but it's very likely audiences haven't seen the last of the Madrigals. In the meantime, fans can count on Bush and other members of the Encanto team to share all the fun details they've missed on their endless rewatches.
