Encanto co-director Jared Bush confirms heroine Mirabel Madrigal's birthday is in March - and it's actually very close. In just a few short months, Disney's Encanto has become a viral sensation the likes of which hasn't been seen in a while. The colorful film debuted in theaters last November and pulled itself up to a solid $95 million domestic gross. However, it really reached audiences through streaming; Encanto debuted on Disney+ in December and blew up from there. Now, amid endless fan creations, a record-breaking soundtrack, and awards love, Disney is interested in turning Encanto into a proper franchise.

Encanto centers on the Madrigal family and their magical house. Generation after generation, the house has bestowed gifts on each member of the family, with the exception of one. Mirabel was the only person to come away from her special ceremony without a gift, making her the Madrigal's black sheep. Years later, when the casita begins to lose its magic, Mirabel steps up to solve the mystery and learns she might be the only one who actually can.

Since Encanto's release, members of the creative team have revealed numerous details and tidbits about all the characters. The latest comes from Jared Bush, who directed the film alongside Byron Howard and Charise Castro Smith. Bush confirmed on social media that Mirabel's birthday month is March. Even better, her birthday itself is actually March 6, so there are only 5 days to go before she gets to celebrate.

Most likely, Encanto fans will be celebrating Mirabel's birthday alongside the rest of the Madrigal clan. Though the movie itself isn't even half a year old, the Encanto fanbase has grown to an incredible size, and it is constantly churning out impressive creative works. From TikToks recreating various Encanto songs to art of the characters, there are few things these fans haven't thought of. Because of that, don't be surprised if social media is suddenly flooded with new Mirabel art on Sunday, March 6.

Mirabel is a special Disney heroine in many ways. Though she isn't the first to stand on her own without a love interest, her dedication to her family and her overall arc of self-acceptance is still something of a novelty these days. Mirabel doesn't have powers like everyone else in her family, but she never lets that get in the way of her own strengths. Plus, in a fun detail, the Encanto team kept her in glasses (despite the fact that her mother Julieta could've healed her eyesight) just to give visually-impaired fans some representation. Come next Sunday, it will be Mirabel's day to shine, and she deserves every bit of praise she will surely get.
