Having starred on Shameless for nine seasons, Emmy Rossum must have earned a pretty penny – but what is the actress-singer’s net worth? Emmy Rossum is best known for her role as Fiona Gallagher on Showtime’s comedy-drama Shameless. Based on the British TV show of the same name, Shameless follows the misadventures of the dysfunctional but loving Gallagher family, of which Fiona is the eldest child turned de facto matriarch thanks to her father Frank’s (William H. Macy) irresponsible exploits.

Fiona was a fan favorite so Shameless viewers were disappointed when Rossum announced she would be leaving the show following season 9. By the time she exited her long-running role, Rossum had over 100 episodes under her belt – two of which she directed. Although her Shameless days are over, she’s busy as ever having set up her own production company – Composition 8 – which recently signed a first-look deal with Universal Content Productions.

Her hard work is certainly paying off as Celebrity Net Worth estimates her net worth to be around $12 million. Unsurprisingly, her long-running gig as Fiona Gallagher, which earned her an estimated $350,000 per episode in the last few seasons of Shameless, contributed a good deal to that figure. But Shameless was by no means her only source of income – in fact, Emmy Rossum has been in the business since she was a child.

A classically trained singer, Rossum first stepped into the limelight when she joined the Metropolitan Opera Children's Chorus at the tender age of seven and later performed in productions of operas including La bohème and Carmen. Her opera background equipped her well when she landed the role of Christine Daaé in Joel Schumacher’s 2004 big-screen adaptation of The Phantom Of The Opera which earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress. Rossum’s musical career continued and to date, she has recorded two albums – Inside Out (2007) and Sentimental Journey (2013) – albeit with a more contemporary focus than opera.

Emmy Rossum’s film and TV career is extensive too. Long before Shameless, she played Abigail Williams on long-running soap opera As The World Turns and made her movie debut in Songcatcher (2000) with an Independent Spirit-nominated performance as an orphan in turn-of-the-century Appalachia. She later had roles in Clint Eastwood’s critically acclaimed neo-noir mystery Mystic River alongside Sean Penn and starred in disaster flick The Day After Tomorrow with Jake Gyllenhaal. Her most recent film role was as a rookie cop in darkly comic action-thriller Cold Pursuit alongside Liam Neeson which was released in early 2019.
