Netflix has released the first-look images for Emily in Paris season 2. The comedy-drama series created by Sex and the City's Darren Star premiered on Netflix last October, almost immediately making its way to Neilsen's top ten list of most-watched streaming shows. The show stars Lily Collins as the titular Emily Cooper, a Chicago-born American who takes up a social strategist job at a French marketing firm called Savior. Emily has certain perceptions about her new job, but her Parisian dream is shattered once she realizes that her Midwestern upbringing doesn't fit in with the culture in France. Emily in Paris also stars Ashley Park, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Lucas Bravo, Samuel Arnold, Camille Razat, William Abadie, and Bruno Gouery. In November 2020, the show was renewed for season 2.

Although Netflix ordered season 2 within a month of the show's premiere, Emily in Paris struggled to commence filming due to the outbreak of COVID-19 in the US. After several delays, production on the second season finally began on May 3, 2021. The show filmed in various locations in France, including Paris and Saint-Tropez, doing its best to overcome the challenges posed by the pandemic. But the production wasn't as orderly as many had imagined, as when the show was shooting in Paris, it encountered backlash from local residents who claimed that the crew was too intrusive and brutal. Still, Emily in Paris managed to wrap up filming by mid-July, and now, its first look has also been teased.

At the moment not much is known about Emily in Paris' second season. Obviously, the new show will resolve the cliffhanger ending from the season 1 finale, which saw Emily starting a relationship with Gabriel (Bravo), without the knowledge of her friend Camille (Razat), who is also Gabriel's girlfriend. But it's not clear what the relationship dynamic would look like once Emily confesses the truth. Star has also teased a more villainous turn for Abadie's Antoine, who has been promoted to the main cast after appearing in a recurring role in season 1. At the end of the first season, fans saw Antoine loan money to Gabriel, the repercussions of which, Star suggests, will play out in season 2.

At the first glance, Emily in Paris season 2 looks just as visually delectable as the freshman iteration. Collins is her endearing, frivolous self and her costumes are also just as eye-catching as ever. The glitz and glamour are surely intact, although nothing can be said about if the story has improved or not. To learn about that, fans will need to wait until the show begins streaming. Until now, no release date has been announced, but considering that Netflix has already started promoting season 2, audiences can expect a trailer and premiere date to drop soon.
