Netflix's Emily in Paris has now reached its second season, and while many things have changed, the show is still très fun. One character who has remained consistently fabulous is Mindy Chen, as she has remained the same funny and quirky best friend to Emily that audiences know and love.

What makes Mindy so great are the awesome things that she says. Mindy seems to have an iconic line every episode, but some manage to stand out for just how memorable, intelligent, and hilarious they are.

Mindy On Emily Sleeping With Gabriel

"Get It, Girl!"

Mindy always knows how to break the tension in any given scene. When Emily confesses that she slept with Gabriel and feels majorly guilty about it, the only thing that Mindy can think to do is congratulate her for having some sex. She even goes to high-five Emily before Emily reminds her that Gabriel is still kind of with Camille.

Mindy is making light of Emily kind of betraying her friend, but that's what makes her words hilarious. It also helps that she's dressed in drag at this moment, which only heightens her bright and flashy personality and lines.

Mindy's Thoughts On Gabriel

 "I'd Bon Appétit Him."

They may be controversial, Emily and Gabriel are a great couple, and Mindy makes sure to comment on this the moment she finds out about them. When the pair has an awkward interaction in Gabriel's restaurant, he then tells the ladies to enjoy their meal, to which Mindy makes a racy quip.

Playing on words is a staple of show creator Darren Star's writing. Only this time, he gets to do it in French, and Mindy, being her fabulous self, gets to say most of these phrases.

Mindy Making A Case For Paris As The World's Best Hiding Place

"And What A Fabulous Place To Hide?"

Mindy is going through quite a personal crisis during the show. She is cut off from her dad and hiding in Paris after flunking out of business school and failing to become a pop sensation. Emily encourages Mindy to try again and accuses her of hiding in Paris, to which Mindy responds that the City of Lights is the best place to hide.

Her words perfectly evoke the feeling that the show is trying to capture; that Paris is a beautiful place to escape to. This is helped by the fact that Mindy makes her stance while sitting outside a cozy little cafe.

Mindy Gets Emily

"Honestly, I Was Being Polite. You Look American."

The cultural stereotypes in Emily in Paris often make no sense, but the show also pokes fun at Emily for being totally American; Mindy actually makes fun of her the moment that they meet. At first, Mindy speaks French to Emily, but when Emily states that she can't speak French, Mindy replies that she expected that.

It's also a subtle joke about how wacky Emily can dress sometimes, as it's very different from the stereotypical chic French style. Still, Emily isn't too insulted by Mindy, and the pair become fast friends.

Mindy On Promoting Her Friends

"Gabriel, Tell Me What I'm Eating So I Can Properly Post It On My Social."

Mindy has some of Emily in Paris' funniest quotes. At Emily's birthday party, Gabriel cooks a gourmet dinner for all the guests, and despite Mindy not knowing what the dish is, she immediately wants to post about it on social media.

Social media is a focal point of the show and dominates a lot of the characters' lives, in both good and bad ways. Perhaps Mindy spends a little too much time on her phone, but at least she's plugging her friends.

Mindy On Being Open-Minded About Love And Romance

"The French Are Romantics But They're Also Realists."

Emily in Paris obviously has a lot to say about French people, and often it can be in rather poor taste. However, when Emily tells Mindy about her boss having an affair and the man's wife knowing about it, Mindy isn't fazed. Emily is horrified that such a situation could happen, but Mindy argues that it can actually be a mature thing to do to keep a marriage happy.

There's no singular approach to love, and if a couple is able to keep their romance thriving in a way that works for both of them, then Mindy is right in saying that Emily should respect it.

Mindy On Her Father, The Zipper King

"He's Got The World By The Balls, Literally."

Mindy's strained relationship with her father is one of Emily in Paris'  best storylines so far, and it offers some heartbreaking moments. But it also provides some very funny lines. When Mindy first talks about her life with Emily, she mentions how her dad is the Zipper King of China, as he makes pretty much every type of trouser fastening, amassing a fortune in the process.

Mindy's words instantly let the audience know what kind of person both she and her father are. Him, very powerful, and her, very blunt.

A Life Lesson From Mindy

"You Need To Decide What You Want, And Not What's Gonna Make Everyone Else Happy."

Mindy is a very supportive character, and she often hypes Emily up to make big leaps that drive the show forward. The series is all about taking chances and experiencing life, and no better is this sentiment expressed than when Mindy tells Emily to stop holding back and confess her feelings to Gabriel.

Her words are very inspirational and most likely resonated with a lot of audience members. While Emily didn't get together with Gabriel by the end of season 2, hopefully she will take Mindy's advice and approach season 3 with this mindset.
