Tesla and SpaceX CEO, Elon Musk has taken to Twitter recently to encourage people to move to Texas, thanks to all the new jobs that are set to become available at the two companies. These job vacancies come at the right time, considering how many have found themselves out of work in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, although there is the question of whether Musk should be focusing recruiting efforts more locally?

Tesla has quickly established itself as one of the driving forces in the self-driving vehicle market, and easily one of the most appealing brands at the consumer level. With reports of a new Tesla EV arriving soon, and priced at under $25,000, the company’s line of electric vehicles are only likely to become even more popular in the years ahead. At the same time, SpaceX has attracted a lot of attention lately, with the company continuing to expand its presence on earth and elsewhere.

Earlier today, Musk Tweeted that Tesla plans to hire more than 10,000 employees over the next year to work at its Texas Gigafactory. Further sweetening the Twitter job listing, Musk also pointed out how the Gigafactory is right on the Colorado river, fifteen minutes from downtown and only five minutes from the airport. In a separate Tweet yesterday, Musk also asked followers to consider moving near SpaceX’s Starbase and “encourage friends'' to as well, due to the number of jobs that are set to become available over the next couple of years. SpaceX’s Starbase is located in Boca Chica Village, also in Texas.

Tesla and SpaceX are two of the most interesting companies around at the moment. While the former is in the process of developing cars that can drive themselves and their passengers around, the latter is not only preparing to launch a passenger trip to space, but is already delivering the internet to many from space. With both businesses doing so well, and expanding the reach of tech to completely new areas, it is likely that there are going to be plenty of job vacancies on offer.

However, there is the question of whether Musk should really be encouraging others to move to Texas in this way. For one thing, there are likely to be plenty of people in Texas in need of a job right now and over the next couple of years. In this sense, it might be more beneficial for Musk to take a more local approach to job advertising. Then again, Twitter has become a major outlet for Musk and is currently the closest entity to a press office that Tesla has, so it is not that surprising that Tesla and SpaceX jobs are being advertised to everyone residing in the Twitterverse.
