Billionaire Elon Musk is apparently a big Call of Duty fan, as he says he's been playing the series since the very original game back in 2003. The third richest man in the world, Elon Musk is known for having an enthusiasm for video games, so it's no surprise that he's a big fan of Call of Duty too, given that it's one of the biggest franchises in the world.
A few months ago, Xbox asked Elon Musk to build a real Warthog, presumably with Tesla technology. Although the CEO never said one way or another if he would, it wouldn't be surprising if he's also a big Halo fan too. Elon Musk has also been very vocal about his love for CD Projekt Red, netting him a brief cameo in Cyberpunk 2077 and the ability to put the company's games in the new refresh of the Tesla Model S. That said, Musk has also fired shots at the company for its sloppy release of the highly-anticipated game last December.
Elon Musk revealed his appreciation for Call of Duty in a new video that seems to have been made by a fan or some paparazzi. The video was shared by popular eSports organization FaZe Clan, noting that Musk is a "real one" for playing Call of Duty since the original title in 2003. Call of Duty is gearing up for its 18th mainline entry in the series, which is being developed by Sledgehammer Games. The game will reportedly be a sequel to the developer's 2017 entry, which took fans back to WWII for the first time since World at War in 2008.
Elon Musk didn't detail which one is his favorite in the series, but given his intense fascination with space, it seems likely he probably took a bit of a liking to Infinity Ward's 2016 title, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. The game was a pretty massive departure from the rest of the series, which had been trending towards futuristic settings for the last few entries before it. Still, going to space resulted in major changes such as piloting space jets, exploring new planets, zero-gravity combat, and more. Although the campaign was well received, the rest of the game didn't land well with fans.
That said, two of the creative forces behind CoD: Infinite Warfare left Infinity Ward earlier this week, so it seems unlikely that the franchise will go back to space anytime soon, especially as fans have fallen more in love with the recent take on Modern Warfare. Whatever direction the franchise goes in from here, it remains to be seen how Elon Musk's appreciation of the FPS franchise will evolve.
