Netflix has already renewed Elite for season 3 - but when can fans expect the show to return? Created by Carlos Montero and Darío Madrona, the Spanish drama series’ first two seasons have proven popular amongst subscribers, and have also received rave reviews from critics.
Elite takes place at a Spanish prep school named Las Encinas. In each of the first two seasons, new arrivals lead to conflict between privileged teenagers and students from humble backgrounds. The new students in Elite season 1 are Samuel (Itzan Escamilla), Nadia (Mina El Hammani), and Christian (Miguel Herrán). Elite season 2 introduces three more main characters at Las Encinas: Valerio Montesinos Hendrich (Jorge López), Cayetana Grajera Pando (Georgina Amorós), and Rebeka P. (Claudia Salas).
Elite season 2 ends with everybody trying to stay one step ahead. Some people are blackmailed with provocative videos, while others secretly execute a mission that will theoretically lead to a murder confession. Just when Las Encinas’ students seem to find clarity, a peer returns from the not-so-distant past to ensure plenty of future drama. Here's what to expect for Elite season 3.
Elite Season 3 Renewal
Netflix has ordered Elite season 3. On August 30, one week before Netflix released Elite season 2, the streaming service green-lit a third season - a sign of good faith given the positive reactions thus far. Elite currently holds a 91 percent Tomatometer score at Rotten Tomatoes, along with 90 percent audience score, so clearly there's a lot of appetite for a third season.
Elite Season 3 Release Date Info
Elite's first two seasons released in October 2018 and September 2019, so we can expect Elite season 3 to premiere around August-September 2020. Since Netflix ordered Elite season 3 before the latest episodes released, the production schedule may even be slightly advanced for the next round of episodes. We can safely predict that Elite season 3 will premiere during by fall 2020, but new episodes could release even sooner - perhaps in mid-to-late summer.
Elite Season 3 Story Details
Elite season 2 builds towards Polo (Álvaro Rico) being publicly identified as a murder suspect. Much to the surprise of Las Encinas students, he returns to school given the lack of physical evidence against him. In Elite season 3, a trophy-turned-weapon will likely ground the main story.
The wildcard for Elite season 3 could be Polo's ex-girlfriend, Carla Rosón Caleruega (Ester Expósito, pictured above). She holds crucial information about a past murder, which means that she could very well be the next person to exit the building, so to speak, at Las Encinas. Given Expósito's popularity, it makes sense that she could be the breakout star for Elite season 3.
