Elisabeth Moss has been performing in films and TV shows ever since she was a child. She received her first television credit at age 8, in a TV movie that aired on CBS, called Bar Girls. Despite this, Elisabeth originally wanted to be a ballerina. In her teenage years, Elisabeth study ballet at the School of American Ballet in New York City. While dancing, she was also auditioning for acting jobs and started booking those, eventually transitioning her focus to acting full time.

Over the course of her thirty-year career, Elisabeth has starred in some incredible television series, including Mad Men and The Handmaid’s Tale, earning two Golden Globes for her performances thus far. The Seagull (2018) - 68%

This 2018 film is a film adaptation of the classic play, by the same name, from playwright Anton Chekhov. This film boasts an incredible cast with Annette Benning playing Irina Arkadina the matriarch of our story, Saoirse Ronan as ingenue Nina, and Elisabeth Moss as Masha.

This classic Chekhov story garnered mixed reviews from critics with some praising the individual performances and others saying the story as a whole didn’t translate well to screen.

Get Him To The Greek (2010) - 72%

This much anticipated follow up to the hit comedy Forgetting Sarah Marshall, stars Russell Brand, reprising his role as Aldous Snow, and Jonah Hill as Aldous’ number one fan boy turned record label intern, Aaron Green.

Elisabeth Moss is introduced to the story as Jonah’s hard-working, rusting student, girlfriend, Daphne. The film scored decently on the Tomatoemeter, but fell short with audiences when it didn’t meet their high expectations with all of the excitement surrounding this film once it had been announced.

The West Wing (1999-2006) - 75%

The West Wing is considered to be one of Aaron Sorkin’s greatest television masterpieces, receiving both critical acclaim and a massive fan base during and after its seven season run. It is a political prime time drama, starring Martin Sheen as President of the United States, Josiah Bartlet.

President Bartlet has three daughters, the youngest, and most featured throughout the series is his youngest daughter, Zoey Bartlet, played brilliantly throughout the series, by a young Elisabeth Moss.

The One I Love (2014) - 82%

This romantic indie-thriller starring Mark Duplass and Elisabeth Moss as a couple, Ethan and Sophie, nearing the end of their marriage, but still desperate to save it, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2014, and then went on to screen at the Tribeca Film Festival.

At the time of its release, it was a festival favorite, garnering a lot of praise and positive reviews from critics. It was given a limited theatrical release in eight theaters across the United States, and was made available to stream shortly after its rounds in the festival circuit.

The Handmaid’s Tale (2017- ) - 88%

Hulu’s hit drama series The Handmaid’s Tale stars Elisabeth Moss as June Osborne, a handmaid living in a future dystopian society fighting for her life and her freedom, as well as the lives and freedoms of her peers, who are also being suppressed by a new government in what was formerly known as the United States of America, but is now called “Gilead."

Elisabeth Moss has won both a Primetime Emmy, as well as a Golden Globe for her work in this ongoing series. This adaptation and expansion of Margaret Atwood's novel has a fourth season that's currently in production.

The Invisible Man (2020) - 91%

Elisabeth Moss’ most recent theatrical release, The Invisible Man, is a loose remake of the monster films starring the titular Universal Monster from the 1930’s. Unlike its black-and-white source material made famous for a certain mummified gentleman, this movie is a modernized reimagining of the classic novels with the same name by author H.G. Wells.

The film received high praise and mostly positive reviews from critics and audiences. In particular, Elisabeth Moss’ performance as Cecilia Kass received the most praise. Critics pointed out that her strong emotional strings strike a chord just as much as the scenes where her character finally fights back.

Us (2019) - 93%

The second film written and directed by Jordan Peele was much anticipated by fans of Peele’s first feature film success, Get Out. This thriller explores a world where everyone has a doppelgänger, and those doppelgängers have spent all of their time living in the shadows, but what would happen if they ever decided to come out of hiding?

The film premiered at South by Southwest in March of 2019 before it was officially released at Howard University, and then went on to a bigger theatrical release later that month. Moss plays two roles here, the first being Kitty Tyler and her Tethered counterpart Dahlia.

The Old Man & The Gun (2018) - 93%

This 2018 drama written and directed by David Lowery, premiered at the Telluride Film Festival and later received a theatrical release. The Old Man and the Gun is somewhat based on an article in The New Yorker by David Grann with the same title.

The film stars Robert Redford as Forrest Tucker, Casey Affleck as John Hunt, Sissy Spacek as Jewel, and Elisabeth Moss as Dorothy Hayes who offers some important information about bank robber and perfect gentleman, Forrest Tucker, once the FBI takes over the investigation, trying to catch Tucker and his accomplices.

Mad Men (2007-2015) - 94%

In AMC’s hit drama Mad Men, Elisabeth Moss plays Peggy Olson. Peggy is introduced in the series as the secretary to our lead character Don Draper, who works at an advertising firm in 1970’s New York City.

Peggy is not the stereotypical 60’s secretary and works her way up the ranks of the firm until she and Draper eventually leave to start their own company, where Peggy becomes an intricate and essential part of Don’s life and company. Peggy breaks the mold and is a role model for women in the workplace, even today.

Invasion (2005-2006) - 100%

Though this television series similar to the film Invasion of the Body Snatchers only lasted one season on ABC, it has received high praise from critics and audiences, earning a 100% score on the Tomatoemeter.  The show premiered and 2005 and had some big shoes to fill, following the success of another science-fiction hit series, Lost.

The production executives had high and possibly unrealistic expectations for this series. When those weren’t met, the show was unceremoniously cancelled before it could even get the chance to breathe. It’s easy to imagine that the decision to take this show off the air so soon was one executives would eventually regret.
