Recently, there seems to be no shortage of games inspired by the Soulslike genre, but Eldest Souls has managed to stand out with its unique, boss-rush formula. Most games inspired by the Dark Souls series will have players fight hordes of weak, minor enemies to get to the exciting boss battles. However, Eldest Souls omits all the padding and goes straight to epic encounters in a thrilling boss-rush form of progression.

As expected, each boss in Eldest Souls poses a challenge, pushing every player's mechanical and mental capability to the limit. Every boss will become progressively more difficult, with the final boss, Eksyll - Princeps, as the ultimate test of a player's skill and tenacity. Players who have made it this far in the game likely realize it will take more than a few attempts to take this boss down. Read on to learn how to beat Eksyll - Princeps, the final boss in Eldest Souls.

How to Beat Eksyll - Princeps in Eldest Souls

Eksyll - Princeps boss fight in Eldest Souls

To beat Eksyll - Princeps in Eldest Souls, players should focus on attacking its avian skull and talons protruding through the large windows while avoiding the AOE damage from its two elemental orbs. Players will need to stay mobile, swiftly dodging attacks from the floating orbs and direct attacks from Eksyll. It's next to impossible to avoid taking damage, so rapid healing is also essential for survival.

The fight against Eksyll - Princeps takes place in three phases. Players should use the following strategies to succeed at each phase of the boss battle:

Phase One

The battle with Eksyll - Princeps starts with two large orbs spawning on the right side of the arena. Similar to the fight with Eos, God of Unity, the red orb will fire long-range beams and burst attacks that can span the entire room, while the spiky, bluish ball will hurl itself about with electrical attacks. It is recommended to immediately begin striking the spiky orb to knock it off balance and deal a small bit of damage. While avoiding the floating spheres, players should head toward Eksyll and attack its arms and head. The boss can slam down with its talons, creating an expanding arch of electricity, and release a dark wave of magic that covers the whole room in a vertical and horizontal pattern. Despite this, players should continue focusing direct attacks on the boss until the second phase begins.

Phase Two

The second phase of this boss battle is a hyper-frenetic version of the first. Eksyll's orbs will spawn again, only this time with more complex attack patterns. Players will also need to watch out for the new attack where Eksyll will summon dark snake-like spirits from the ground that create large circles of AOE damage, similar to attacks from The Guardian boss. During this attack, players should focus on dodging as much as possible. After Eksyll's special attacks finish, players can return to quickly dealing damage to the boss's arms and head.

Phase Three

The last phase of this final boss fight in Eldest Souls will play out differently from the previous two. Eksyll - Princeps will begin pulling the player towards it with a mighty force while raining heavy rubble from above. Players will need to avoid the circle-shaped attacks and place all effort into striking Eksyll's tri-skulled head. Players can finish off the boss with a few heavy blows and triumphantly enjoy the game's final cutscene.
