The new Blackwood Chapter for Elder Scrolls Online has a few extras that add 30 hours of new content in the Gates of Oblivion storyline. One of the main parts of the Blackwood chapter has origins in the Flames of Ambition DLC, where conspiracies with the Longhouse Emperors and Mehrunes Dagon are deeply entrenched. The good news is that the addition of Companions will add another layer to combat, making brutal fights a bit more manageable. There are also new events around the Oblivion Gates, with rewards not available anywhere else in Tamriel. Finally, new equipment sets, achievements, and quests make stepping away from the main story satisfying in the hunt for new content. To recruit Bastian Hallix, players will need to rescue him and help him save his foster brother. Here's how to recruit Bastian Hallix in Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood.

How To Recruit Bastian Hallix in Elder Scrolls Online

To begin the process of recruiting Bastian Hallix in Elder Scrolls Online, players will need to cross the bridge going to Deepscorn Hollow. Bastian will call out for help. He claims he was attacked by a Dark elf called Tenarei Vels on the way to save Quistley Silvelle, who is Bastian's foster brother. Players must free Bastian and accept his quest, called Competition and Contracts.

During the investigation to find Quistley, players will learn that Bastian is an honorable man. It becomes clear he doesn't think too highly of Quistley and his gambling habits, but he has decided to help save him anyway. Players will need to enter the dungeon not far from where they discovered Bastian to kick things off, and eventually, some prisoners ask to get freed along the way. The prisoners talk about the dungeon housing a cult and sacrificing people, so the party will need to get to Quistley quickly before he, too, becomes a victim.

Players should continue through the dungeon. Eventually, the party learns that Quistley seems to have joined the cult itself. Tenarei Vels will show up and offer a map of the location while explaining that she needed Quistley to get out of a jam she was in herself. Shortly after finding him, the team finds out that the Daughter of Sithis has Quistley and wants to sacrifice him.

Bastian and Tenarei come up with a compromise to fulfill her contract and get Quistley to safety. After this exchange, Bastian can become a Companion character for the player. They will be able to summon him to help on missions during Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood's story and beyond.
