Base-building in No Man’s Sky has recently reached a whole new level of inventiveness when a devoted fan meticulously recreated the Imperial City from The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion on the surface of a random planet. It is worth mentioning that fans have been having quite a lot of fun with building bases in No Man’s Sky since the mechanics were introduced in the Foundations update.

An enthusiastic No Man’s Sky player has spent several years building a city structure similar to Rapture from the original BioShock video game. It wasn’t an exact replica, but rather an underwater experiment inspired by Ken Levin’s famous project. The city was built in Creation mode, and by the time the work was finished, it had exceeded the in-game render limitations on the number of assets. Players can still visit the impressive build and view it themselves, but they won’t be able to see all the numerous details due to the engine restrictions.

The Imperial City in No Man’s Sky, courtesy of Boid Gaming from YouTube, looks almost like an exact copy of Cyrodiil’s capital from The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. There’re some obvious visual differences, especially when the original source and a player-built city are put together in a side-by-side comparison, but the resemblance is nonetheless uncanny. The attention to detail is simply amazing. A devoted Oblivion fan will undoubtedly recognize all the authentic features of the Imperial City. Inside the main walls, there’re seven distinctive districts, one of which even includes the famous gladiator arena, while the central part is dominated by the White-Gold Tower. The remaining areas are located outside. The incredible base can be visited by players on PS4 thanks to the video that contains clear instructions on how to reach the planet. Interestingly, the build proved to be so impressive that even Hello Games’ head Sean Murray shared an image of the city on his official Twitter, crediting the author.

Once an immensely controversial game, No Man’s Sky continues to fix its early mistakes by releasing regular updates. The latest one, titled Companions, allows players to tame creatures they discover during adventures on numerous planets. The alien lifeform can be helpful in many ways by performing various activities. Later this year, the game will be treated with a series of additional updates to celebrate the title’s 5-year anniversary.

It’s no wonder that such an amazing game as Oblivion is being honored in another great title that is No Man’s Sky. The space exploration game is among the most impressive modern projects, in part thanks to the devoted community of passionate fans. Boid Gaming’s city build and other examples of user-created content help to boost and expand social interaction in the game, ultimately making players feel that they are not alone in the vast universe of No Man’s Sky.
