The Elder Scrolls series spans hundreds of years of history and takes place across many of the different regions of Tamriel. Elder Scrolls Online has updated most of the previously explored regions, though it has also incorporated new areas that had previously only been mentioned in in-game books or alluded to in conversations with NPCs, with no main title of their own. With the incredibly diverse and picturesque landscapes found across Tamriel, each region deserves its own legendary tale.

The Elder Scrolls Online is set in 2E 583, taking place before all the other mainline titles in The Elder Scrolls thus far. Other titles have featured different eras and different zones of Tamriel, including the disputed island of Solstheim, all of Skyrim, all of Cyrodiil, the island of Stros M'Kai of Hammerfell, and Morrowind's central island Vvardenfell. These zones are only a small fraction of the currently available map of Tamriel, and the opportunity for The Elder Scrolls 6 settings seems almost endless.

There are a few zones of Tamriel that have had their time in the spotlight of a mainline game but haven't been made explorable in Elder Scrolls Online. The island of Solstheim is a prime example, as it was featured in DLC for both The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. Skyrim's holds of Whiterun, The Pale, and Winterhold are also not yet included in Elder Scrolls Online but were openly explorable in the previous title. However, for many other Elder Scrolls world locations, the opposite is true.

Summerset Isles As A Possible Elder Scrolls 6 Location

Elder Scrolls Online Auridon Coast Off Tanzelwil

The Summerset Isles are one of the regions that can be explored in Elder Scrolls Online but have no dedicated game of their own, though many speculate this could be the setting for Elder Scrolls VI. These Isles are the homelands of the Altmer, or High Elves, who openly boast about the beauty of their islands. These islands are indeed spectacular, with fascinating rock formations being commonplace, especially along the shorelines. The trees that grow on the Summerset Isles often sport pink, red, orange, or even purple leaves, providing a pleasant autumnal mood. Possibly the most interesting creature players can find here is the elusive indrik, which resembles a deer with crystalline antlers and a feathered torso, capable of using elemental attacks when they feel threatened.

Unexplored Elder Scrolls Online Regions - Elsweyr

Elder Scrolls Online Unexplored Mainline Games Elsweyr

Perhaps the most unseen region of Tamriel, Elsweyr wasn't included in the base version of Elder Scrolls Online but was eventually added in two separate DLC packs. Elsweyr is the homeland of the Khajiit and is split into two distinctive zones, Northern Elsweyr and Southern Elsweyr. Northern Elsweyr is characterized by sprawling deserts and sparse vegetation, with two large chasms found towards its center. Southern Elsweyr more closely resembles Valenwood, its neighbor to the west, and features verdant tropical forests. This region has a deep history suitable for a main Elder Scrolls title; including the formation and destruction of sixteen distinct kingdoms, plagues, and rebellion.

Black Marsh Is An Underused Elder Scrolls 6 Possibility

Elder Scrolls Online Shadowfen Near Ten-Maur-Wolk

Black Marsh is a so-far neglected region of Tamriel, with only one explorable zone included in the base version of Elder Scrolls Online. The treacherous swamps of this region are known to swallow outsiders, called home only by the Argonians, as the Knahaten Flu had wiped out all other humanoid inhabitants before the end of the Second Era, a time in Tamriel's history no Elder Scrolls game has yet covered.

Giant Snakes, Crocodiles, Fleshflies, and the menacing Wamasu are a few examples of the dangerous fauna indigenous to the region. Despite disease and threatening creatures, the gorgeous scenery found in these mystifying marshes is undeniable. Featuring towering mangrove trees, elaborate ruins, and abundant foliage. An Elder Scrolls title thoroughly exploring Black Marsh's history and lost civilizations would most likely be challenging yet incredibly rewarding.

Unexplored Elder Scrolls Online Regions - Valenwood

Valenwood is a dense region of Tamriel, comprised of four zones; Grahtwood, Greenshade, Malabal Tor, and Reaper's March. Home to the Bosmer, or Wood Elves, one of the many Elder Scrolls Elf Types, and their ancient Camoran Dynasty, this region is dominated by massive trees that tower over the area and can block out the sun. Large cities are built within the boughs of graht-oak trees, giant trees capable of movement with the help of magic. Besides the major cities, only a few small villages can be found within the forest. With long stretches of land between settlements only connected by underdeveloped and overgrown trails. The coasts of Valenwood in The Elder Scrolls are lined with mangrove swamps, with heavy rainfall characteristic of the inland forested areas.

Reaper's March is sandwiched between Malabal Tor and the province of Elsweyr and stands out among the other zones in Valenwood, consisting mainly of grasslands. Grahtwood houses Elden Root, which is situated inside the Elden Tree and is the capital of the Aldmeri Dominion, likely villains of Elder Scrolls 6. With most of Valenwood's native inhabitants living in the major cities, much of the region is only occupied by wildlife. Players can find friendly critters like monkeys, antelope, and timber mammoths across parts of Valenwood, in addition to dangerous creatures like spriggans and carnivorous plants. This lush landscape and the unique systems within would easily qualify this province for its own mainline Elder Scrolls game.

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind takes place on the island of Vvardenfell, with an expansion allowing players to explore Mournhold, the capital city of Deshaan in Elder Scrolls Online. Though Morrowind gave players plenty of freedom to experience its available zones, Morrowind as a province is a much larger region of Tamriel. Home of the Dunmer, or Dark Elves, the scenery here varies greatly. From bleak and barren around the base of Ash Mountain, one of the region's active volcanoes, to forests filled with towering mushrooms and other colorful vegetation. Though the region's most picturesque area has already been featured in Morrowind, along with notable characters and frustrating enemies, a separate title set in Morrowind's landlocked locations could provide a different perspective.

Unexplored Elder Scrolls Online Regions - High Rock

Elder Scrolls Online Stormhaven Across From Nightmare Crag

The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall takes place on the western portions of High Rock and Hammerfell within the zones Glenumbra and Alik'r Desert respectively. These zones were not extensively explored, and the other zones in each of the two regions have only been made explorable in Elder Scrolls Online. High Rock is home to both the Bretons and the Orcs, with the Orcs capital of Orsinium located in the snowy mountains of Wrothgar. With temperate plains and dry forests occupying most of the rest of High Rock, giving way to Rivenspire's foreboding rocky terrain.

The Elder Scrolls: What's Happening In Hammerfell?

Elder Scrolls Online Craglorn Mountains Behind Hircines Haunt

Hammerfell's Alik'r Desert is probably the most well-known feature of the province, though it has a lot more to offer. Homeland of the Redguards, this arid region consists mostly of deserts but also supports grasslands with sparse vegetation. The Dragontail Mountains line its northeastern border between Skyrim and Craglorn, another example of a location only seen in Elder Scrolls Online. What forests Hammerfell has to offer can be found along the coast. Famous for being nearly inhospitable, players can encounter menacing creatures like assassin beetles and the duneripper within this region. Though Hammerfell has been the featured province in two separate mainline games, both are older titles released over twenty years ago, offering lots of opportunities to expand on the details and legends of this region in a new The Elder Scrolls game.
