VentureBeat journalist Jeff Grubb claims The Elder Scrolls VI, like Starfield, will be an Xbox exclusive title, though neither Microsoft nor Bethesda have confirmed as much. Talk of Bethesda games and their Xbox exclusivity resurfaced following recent comments from Bethesda Softworks' SVP of Global Marketing and Communications Pete Hines.

The marketing lead suggested the publisher hasn't yet abandoned PlayStation audiences, but quickly clarified that even he's uncertain about the specifics. This rather tame statement unsurprisingly snowballed into yet another bout of questions about which Bethesda project may or may not migrate to PlayStation platforms in the future, forcing Microsoft to once more reiterate that Starfield is and will remain exclusive to Xbox. Other questions continue to circle, though, resulting in The Elder Scrolls VI's name entering the mix in online discussions.

Amid speculation regarding Bethesda games on PlayStation, spawned by Hines' aforementioned comments, Jeff Grubb took to Twitter to set the record straight based on what he knows about the situation. In response to someone positing the door is still open for Starfield to land on PS5, Grubb tweeted a simple, "no." The VentureBeat reporter and industry insider continued, adding in the same post that "...Elder Scrolls 6 is planned as Xbox exclusive as well." Grubb's brief Twitter post about the matter appears as follows:

It is worth noting, of course, that Bethesda Softworks and Microsoft have yet to confirm the exclusivity status of The Elder Scrolls VI. When the companies plan on sharing specifics is anyone's guess at this point. Since the open-world RPG remains several years out from release, such information may not hit the web for quite some time.

Bethesda unveiled Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI a few years ago during its E3 2018 press conference, telling fans that neither would be ready for primetime for a long while. Starfield resurfaced during Bethesda and Microsoft's shared E3 2021 showcase, complete with a brand-new trailer and November 2022 launch date. At the time of writing, the next Elder Scrolls installment remains somewhat of an enigma, barring its logo and landscape art. Fans of the long-running band will soon have reason to celebrate, though, since Skyrim's 10th anniversary falls on November 11, 2021.
