The Smithing Stone is a resource in Elden Ring used for upgrading equipment, such as weapons and shields. Smithing Stones are essential for increasing the damage output of weaponry to take down the more difficult enemies and bosses in the game. Players can use these materials by visiting Smithing Master Hewg, the imprisoned Blacksmith of Roundtable Hold. Fans must ensure that their stones have the proper level in Elden Ring to upgrade their gear successfully.

To get to the Roundtable Hold, players must progress through the main story by reaching the Stormveil fortress and battling against a challenging boss, Margit, the Fell Omen. After defeating this boss, Melina will appear to the protagonist, inviting them to fast travel to the Roundtable Hold. From the central chamber in the hold, players can enter the passageway on the right to find Master Hewg. Another important NPC that players should be acquainted with is the Twin Maiden Husks, located several rooms opposite the Blacksmith. The Husks will offer Smithing Stones for sale once players have advanced far enough through the world.

There are multiple locations where players can find Smithing Stones in Elden Ring. Yet, there is one spot where fans can find plenty of stones early on. To the northwest of the Church of Elleh on Elden Ring's game map and south of Agheel Lake North sits Limgrave Tunnels. The location serves as an early dungeon, with mineshafts full of materials and enemies, featuring a boss battle at the end of the area.

Within Limgrave Tunnels, players can find several mineable glowing nodes that provide Smithing Stones. The enemies in the dungeon also can occasionally drop Smithing Stones. The hostile mobs are fairly tanky, so players must ensure they are well-prepared before venturing into the mineshafts.

Another excellent location to find and farm Smithing Stones in Elden Ring is the Twin Maiden Husks merchant NPC in Roundtable Hold mentioned above. However, they will not have the upgrade materials readily for sale from the start. Instead, players must give them a unique item called the Smithing-Stone Miner's Bell Bearing, a drop from the Crystalian boss in Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel. This dungeon in Elden Ring is located to the far northwest of the map. While the area is easily accessible, players will not likely enter this region until later in the game. Nevertheless, once they've retrieved the Bell Bearing from the Crystalian, they can visit Twin Maiden Husks to buy however many Smithing Stones needed as long as they have sufficient Runes.
