Whether the Elden Ring Tarnished are fans of Samurai swords or just overall combat proficiency, one weapon that all players should know where to find is the Moonveil Katana. This is an incredibly powerful weapon in Elden Ring that continues to deliver massive damage as it is upgraded, and it's overall one of the most aesthetically pleasing weapons to use in the game. What really makes the Moonveil Katana special, however, is its unique skill called Transient Moonlight.

With the Transient Moonlight effect, those who sheathes the blade and hold it at the hip in a composed stance can follow up with either a normal or a strong attack to draw the blade at great speed for an instant slash attack. Both attacks fire off a wave of light that can damage multiple enemies at once, making it one of the best weapons in Elden Ring to use against hordes of enemies that have little to no protection available. Additionally, the Moonveil Katana is arguably the best weapon in the Katana class alone because of this unique skill.

The Moonveil Katana is a reward for defeating the mini-boss Magma Wyrm Makar in the optional dungeon area at Gael Tunnel. While this area is part of the vast open-world exploration that players can enjoy in Elden Ring, this particular mini-boss is one of the more challenging enemies for newer players to defeat. Additionally, as probably expected, Magma Wyrm Makar deals quite a bit of fire damage, so be sure to bring any armor set in Elden Ring that can help increase fire resistance. Additionally, the fire-breathing dragon's attacks can be more easily managed by sticking to the rear of the monster. Continue to attack by focusing on its hind legs, and be prepared to return to its head when it is downed to inflict massive damage on the weak point.

Elden Ring: How To Reach Gael Tunnel & Get The Moonveil Katana

To reach Gael Tunnel, travel to the border of Limgrave and Caelid on the map where the darker circle surrounded by orange is located toward the north. From Limgrave, cross over the border into Caelid toward the Summonwater Village ruins, and continue traveling along the path until the Shack of Rotting has been reached. Next, travel south down through the opening until the pathway where two soldiers are standing guard are found. These Elden Ring enemies can either be defeated quickly or snuck by to enter the cave.

After heading inside the Gael Tunnel, carefully use the wooden platforms to drop down into the tunnel by following a clockwise pattern. Be sure to rest at the Site of Grace at the bottom of the tunnel. The dungeon itself can be explored, but to reach the Magma Wyrm Makar mini-boss be sure to stick to the left path until the area with the fogged door is reached. Do not enter the door just yet, instead, continue straight to reach the second Site of Grace. Afterward, enter the fogged door to begin the boss fight.

Once the Magma Wyrm Makar has been defeated, the Moonveil Katana will be immediately rewarded, along with a Dragon Heart. Using the Moonveil Katana requires 12 points of strength, 18 points of dexterity, and 23 points of intellect. The weapon will continue to serve its Tarnished well throughout their story in Elden Ring as its damage scales with both increased intellect and dexterity.
