Elden Ring is one of the most nebulous game releases in recent memory. The last major teaser fans received about the action role-playing game came in June 2019, when developer FromSoftware first confirmed rumors that it had partnered with Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin to create the video game. Now, an alleged leak has seemingly revealed when the title's next trailer will be published.

Elden Ring will join the ranks of FromSoftware's "Soulsborne" games, known for their twitchy combat and intense boss battles. Some of the company's most well-known releases, like Dark Souls and Bloodborne, have been set in gothic, dark-fantasy realms. FromSoftware's most recent 2019 release, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, was a stark departure from Dark Souls' style, and Elden Ring will seemingly follow in the same footsteps.

An unnamed user from the anonymous forum 4chan posted a six-second clip of what they claim is a new Elden Ring trailer released on February 7. The supposed leak was posted on Reddit by user MrRedoot55, who expressed skepticism about its legitimacy but could not find any evidence to confirm or deny the alleged leaker's statements.

When Will A New Elden Ring Trailer Be Released?

The 4chan post includes a brief video of a dragon flying over a lush forest on a mountain top and two extremely-saturated screenshots of knights battling a dragon. The only other thing mentioned in the post is the trailer's unconfirmed February 7 release date, which lines up with past Elden Ring leaks from more trusted sources.

In December, two journalists with proven leak track records stated that a new Elden Ring trailer would drop in the first couple of months of 2021. More specifically, Everyeye editor Francesco Fossetti even went as far as saying that Elden Ring would have been released already if it wasn't for the workflow interruptions caused by the coronavirus pandemic. He explained that FromSoftware is on the cusp of finishing the upcoming game's four-year development cycle and he told gamers to expect news about it very soon.

That was followed by a separate batch of leaks that claimed Elden Ring's map would be "much larger" than the ones seen in the Dark Souls series. That lines up with the sprawling forest area seen in the 4chan leaks, which is very different from the claustrophobic dungeon levels in Dark Souls gamesFans will likely need to wait until FromSoftware reveals Elden Ring to verify if these leaks are legitimate, but a February 7 release date for a new Elden Ring trailer does align with the company's previous launches.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice was first teased during E3 2018, and it was then released in March 2019. Elden Ring has already broken that promotional cycle, most likely due to the pandemic, as Fossetti mentioned. Still, it's been well over a year since FromSoftware has said anything about its new Soulsborne title, which makes a February trailer with a release date reveal seem very probable.
