A creative Thai trailer for Elden Ring turns the open-world adventure's lore into a simple family dinner. FromSoftware's newest soulslike title sees the vast Lands Between thrown into chaos following the shattering of the great Elden Ring. While the story of Elden Ring and the Lands Between is a fantasy of epic scope, the tale can apparently be boiled down to a mere squabble between family members.

Like past FromSoftware role-playing games, like Dark Souls, the plot of Elden Ring is primarily told through item descriptions and environmental storytelling. The title's backstory sees the vast Lands Between ruled by Queen Marika, with various demigod servants all loyal to her undisputed rule. However, the shattering of the Elden Ring threw the fantasy setting into chaos, as the power-hungry demigods began collecting the pieces in an attempt to take control of the land. This lore leads to the state of the world in Elden Ring, with each separate  kingdom ruled by a different tyrannical boss. George R. R. Martin wrote Elden Ring's lore, allowing the novelist to inject some high-fantasy influence from his beloved Song of Ice and Fire saga.

Publisher Bandai Namco (via YouTube) recently posted a Thai trailer for Elden Ring that hilariously translates the game's backstory into a family drama. Mirroring the shattering of the Elden Ring, the trailer begins with a wife and mother accidentally destroying a family heirloom. The situation devolves into a vicious argument between the entire family, reflecting the Lands Between being fragmented, while a young son returns home to represent Elden Ring's Tarnished protagonist. The Thai trailer is humorously dramatic, but it actually does a great job of explaining the game's elusive backstory.

While the Thai "Return of the Tarnished" trailer turns Elden Ring into a soap opera, another live-action trailer gives players a motivational speech to prepare them for The Lands Between. Ming-Na Wen's live-action Elden Ring trailer sees the esteemed actress give fans a pep-talk with her distinct warrior attitude. The trailer emphasizes the difficulty of FromSoftware's soulslike titles, warning gamers that they will die repeatedly as they quest to become an Elden Lord. However, Ming-Na Wen also assures players that victory will taste even sweeter when wrenched from the jaws of defeat.

At the heart of Elden Ring's complex lore lies the game's demigod rulers, Queen Marika and the shattering of the Elden Ring. While the game's Thai trailer may be a bit overdramatic, the video makes the game's lore relatable and understandable for potential players. Turning the Elden Ring into a family heirloom, and the lowly Tarnished into a prodigal son, perfectly illustrates the game's central conflict.
