While fans wait for FromSoftware's most recent title, Elden Ring, to receive new content, environmental artist Eugenia Lysa has created an in-depth concept video detailing her own take on a potential Elden Ring DLC. Since release, the game has received ongoing support, with Elden Ring developer FromSoftware patching in balance changes, updates to NPC questlines, and more. However, fans have been eagerly waiting for more substantial additions in the form of DLC expansions.

With Elden Ring's initial release in February 2022, many players were initially taken aback by the game's sprawling size, hidden secrets, and inscrutable lore. However, as more and more players have completed the game, many are finding themselves eager for more. Currently, expectations have turned towards a more sizable DLC expansion for the game, and while Elden Ring has been patched several times, FromSoftware has yet to announce any potential DLC, much less reveal when Elden Ring DLC might release. There is a definite precedent, as FromSoftware's previous games in the Dark Souls series, as well as Bloodborne, have all received substantial expansions. With Elden Ring's patches tying up many of the game's more minor loose ends, a DLC could be the developer's chance to answer some of the bigger questions that remain.

While they wait for news on Elden Ring DLC, fans can instead turn to an incredibly detailed fan project made by Eugenia Lysa, an environmental artist. As reported by Kotaku, Lysa's concepts branch off from Elden Ring's existing lore to imagine an entirely new expansion for Elden Ring, including mockups, art, and animation of distinct areas, lore, and even full NPC quest lines. The centerpiece of Lysa's work is a video, showing off various environments, pieces of concept art, and lore snippets that she created for the project. Lysa made the video in addition to several pieces on her Artstation, she says, because "A fully narrated video...leads you through the story without the need to read excessive amounts of text on the margins and is supported with videos, fake gameplay shots, concept art, etc—to support this narrated storyline."

Elden Ring's Fan-Made DLC Explores The Formless Mother

Lysa's work focuses mainly on two of the lesser explored subjects of Elden Ring's expansive lore - the Chanting Winged Dames, a rare enemy, and the Formless Mother, one of the game's mysterious outer gods. Pulling on items, enemies, and lore that already existed within Elden Ring, Lysa created a conceptual DLC expansion with its own additions to the game in the form of concept art, 3D environments, lore, and a full NPC quest line. While Lysa has previously participated in fan art competitions involving Dark Souls and Bloodborne, her Elden Ring DLC project includes something new - a narrated, 13-minute video going deeper into detail on her work, and showing her concept in action working in a game engine. In the video, Lysa stresses that the project is just fan art, but it's certainly not hard to imagine something of a similar caliber working as a full-blown DLC.

With a game as well-realized and massive as Elden Ring, it's certainly no surprise that fans are eager for more news on the future of the title. While past games in FromSoftware's prestigious catalog have received their fair share of DLC speculation, it remains to be seen what any potential DLC for their most recent title could entail. With fan projects like Lysa's DLC concept, as well as many of Elden Ring's secrets being found through datamining, fans will certainly have plenty to tide them over until a potential announcement.
