Elden Ring is home to many strange occurrences and creatures, among which are the invisible scarabs spread across the Lands Between. Like most of their kind, these creatures reward players with incantations, sorceries, upgrade materials, and ashes of war in Elden Ring. However, unlike other scarabs, they are invisible and can only be found by following the glowing trail they leave behind them. These critters may, at times, be hard to track down, but doing so can be very rewarding as their drops are usually better than the average scarab.

Invisible scarabs are located in almost every region of Elden Ring and can only be found due to the shining tracks they create and the distinctive ringing of their footsteps. Each of these creatures will run around, following a specific looping path that can sometimes be hard to track if it's too long. Also, as these creatures cannot be seen, it can sometimes be quite difficult to kill them in Elden Ring since they cannot be targeted and are very quick.

The first step in killing these creatures is finding a glowing trail, indicating that an invisible scarab is running around in the area. After that, it is vital to observe its pathing and find a spot where it passes through, preferably a straight line. After that, players should wait until they see the trail heading towards them and try to time their attack right as it passes their location. This, of course, is easier said than done, as the timing can be quite tricky.

How To Find & Kill Invisible Scarabs In Elden Ring

Currently, there are a total of eight known invisible scarabs in the game that can be found in the following regions of Elden Ring:

  • Limgrave: on the beach to the west of the Church of Elleh
  • Liurnia of the Lakes: southeast of the Main Caria Manor Gate
  • Altus Plateau: on the lake to the north of the Sealed Tunnel
  • Altus Plateau: north of the Erdtree Sanctuary Site of Grace in Leyndell, Royal Capital
  • Caelid: south of Sellia Crystal Tunnel
  • Caelid: near the Fort Gael North Site of Grace
  • Mountaintops of the Giants: on the northern side of Freezing Lake near the Site of Grace
  • Mountaintops of the Giants: on top of the tallest rock pillar east of Ordina, Liturgical Town

To hit the invisible scarabs, players can try to use spells and weapons in Elden Ring with a wide area of effect. If unsuccessful, players can instead use Phalanx sorceries, which create several floating magic swords over a character that fly towards enemies when they are near. These sorceries are the easiest way to deal with the scarabs, as the projectiles can target invisible enemies. If players do not have access to these sorceries, they can instead acquire or use Rogier's Rapier as it provides players with the Glintblade Phalanx Ash of War.
