Fans enjoying Elden Ring on their new Steam Decks have been experiencing certain performance issues that one insider says should see a fix coming this week. Valve's new portable device allows people to easily access Steam's vast number of PC games. The Steam Deck looks to take a piece of the portable market long dominated by Nintendo and make PC gaming more accessible for the masses. Players have been enjoying their new portable gaming device, which also happened to launch on the same day as one of this year's most anticipated games, Elden Ring.

Elden Ring is the latest game developed by Dark Souls and Bloodborne's developer FromSoftware, and it has taken the world by storm after releasing on Friday. Anticipation for the action RPG was so high some businesses around the world even gave workers the day off for Elden Ring. With Elden Ring and the Steam Deck set to release on February 25th, some were curious how well the game would perform on Valve's new portable gaming device. Steam officially verified Elden Ring's compatibility and optimization for the Steam Deck before launch, but players have encountered stuttering issues with the Steam Deck's version of the game. Still, it doesn't sound like the issue will be a long-term one.

Steam Deck owners who have been experiencing performance and stuttering issues with Elden Ring should be seeing a fix within the next week. As reported by PCGamesN, industry insider and Twitter user, Pierre-Loup Griffais posted an update with a short video of the upcoming Elden Ring patch. The update explains that the game's graphics team has been hard at work reducing background streaming assets to help with the game's heavy stutter issue. Unfortunately, this fix only affects the Steam Deck version of the game. It does not address the stuttering issues PC players have found with Elden Ring.

Like most open-world games, Elden Ring has had issues with its anticipated launch. However, the game has not seen the level of problems seen with previous high-profile games like the disastrous launches of Cyberpunk 2077 and Battlefield 2042. Specific performance issues have prevented Elden Ring from a perfect launch. Frame rate hiccups and poorly timed stuttering issues have plagued Elden Ring's performance on every platform. However, the issues people have been having with the game have not been a deal-breaker for most because the stutter and framerate typically take one to two seconds to catch up with the game and can often go unnoticed by players.

Valve's new portable gaming device has managed to put PC gaming's largest library in the palm of gamers' hands. Now that both the Steam Deck and Elden Ring are officially available, both are examples of how glitches and errors can impact the video game industry on both software and hardware. However, the game's developer has addressed the problems Elden Ring has had with its performance both on and off the Steam Deck. With upcoming patches coming soon, Elden Ring should hopefully end up playing better than ever.
