Quick Links

Root Resin might just be one of the rarest crafting materials in Elden Ring that you might need at some point. Root Resin is a bright orange substance that has been secreted from the Erdtree. However, they aren't as common as other materials and can only be found in grassy biomes. You can combine Root Resin with Smoldering Butterflies and String to create an item that can be imbued on a weapon. This gives your weapon extra powers, making it highly advantageous to use against bosses and enemies.

Root Resin can mostly be found in the Lands Between, but there are other methods and locations to get the rare crafting material. You can buy 10 Root Resin from the Nomadic Merchant in Elden Ring for 50 Runes each. You can also find Root Resin scattered throughout the regions of Limgrave, Weeping Peninsula, Murkwater Catacombs, Stormfoot Catacombs, and Stormhill.

Where To Farm Root Resin in Elden Ring

The best location to farm Root Resin in Eldenn Ring is at the Warmaster’s Shack in Stormhill, west of Saintsbridge. You can fast travel to the Site of Grace near the shack to start farming in Elden Ring by going to a tree nearby. You can collect up to 6 Root Resin in this area if you have rested. Another great spot to farm Root Resin is at the Revengers Shack in West Liurnia. You can also acquire two crystal buds alongside five Root Restin at this location. To see this easy Root Resin farm that can also net you some Crystal Buds, check out the YouTube video from sciicers below:

The Root Resin farming process in Elden Ring is quite straightforward as you need to look for a tree that has three Root Resin around its base. You must simply collect the Resin and rest at the Site of Grace again to reset the surrounding area.

Once reset, you will have the opportunity to loot three more Root Resins. Repeat this process to farm the resource as much as needed.

Each of these greases can be applied to a weapon to alter its attacks and add different elemental damage types. Greases are especially useful during the hardest boss battles in Elden Ring, but you should keep in mind that Drawstring Grease made from Root Resin will not last as long as regular grease and will need to be reapplied sooner. However, the benefits of using Drawstring Grease in Elden Ring - the fact that it can be applied so quickly - means it is safer to use during boss fights.
