A new Elden Ring mod is letting players turn the tables by summoning some of the game’s most notorious bosses to assist them in battle. FromSoftware’s latest RPG has become a hit with gamers in the few weeks since its launch, even surpassing other AAA blockbusters like Horizon Forbidden West and Pokémon Legends: Arceus, with Elden Ring the best-selling video game of 2022 in the United States to date. As an exile known as the Tarnished, Elden Ring players are tasked with gathering the lost fragments of the titular Elden Ring to become the Elden Lord of the Lands Between - and cutting down a large number of powerful enemies and bosses along the way.

Developer FromSoftware is notorious for producing incredibly difficult games, and Elden Ring is no different. Populating the Lands Between are massive giants, fearsome dog-like beasts, and mighty bosses like Astel - Naturalborn Of The Void and Radagon Of The Golden Order, all of which are capable of ending a Tarnished’s journey in a quick and gruesome fashion. Even seemingly-harmless creatures like Elden Ring's goats can be deadly if a player isn’t prepared, and creator Hidetaka Miyazaki has even apologized to fans who feel that his latest title is too difficult. However, one can also imagine what it would be like to harness the power of Elden Ring’s most powerful enemies to unleash on anyone foolish enough to stand in their way.

Gaming YouTuber Garden of Eyes recently answered this inquiry with a new Elden Ring mod that allows players to summon the game’s bosses as helpful spirit ashes. This is demonstrated in a battle against the notoriously difficult Godskin Duo, with the player conjuring a pair of clone spirits modeled after Elden Ring's Godfrey the First Elden Lord - the final boss players battle in the game. The resulting confrontation between two endgame bosses and a pair of lesser opponents plays out exactly as expected, with the twin Godfreys cutting down their foes with a few swings of their massive axes. In the end, the player is left to stand triumphant, and commenters on the video have basked in the sight of the annoying Godskin Duo being completely obliterated.

There have been plenty of other Elden Ring mods which add features like a Pause screen and Photo Mode to the traditionally never-ending gameplay formula. Other Elden Ring players have utilized bizarre and interesting alternate controllers to play through the game, like the hula-hoop featured in Nintendo Switch fitness title Ring Fit Adventure and even a bunch of bananas. Finally, some Elden Ring fans have managed to overcome the game’s punishing difficulty and complete the main quest in speedruns - with a few managing to beat the game in about a half-hour.

Elden Ring is about as popular as it is difficult, given the many Twitch streams and funny memes that have cropped up since the game was released late last month. Already, players are coming up with creative mods to help make the quest to become the Elden Lord easier, such as summoning the fearsome Godfrey the First Elden Lord as a spirit ash to take on other bosses. One can only picture how the pair of Godfrey spirits shown in Garden of Eyes' recent video would do against the real Godfrey at the end of Elden Ring’s long and grueling story campaign, but it would certainly be a showdown for the ages.
