Latenna's questline in Elden Ring is connected to the Haligtree Secret Medallion and the Key Item used to activate a hidden mechanism in the Grand Lift of Rold that grants access to the Hidden Path to the Haligtree, a secret region of the Lands Between. Completing her story will reward Tarnished with a unique Spirit Summon and a legendary Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone in Elden Ring. Along the way, the player will also acquire the Royal Remains Set and unlock a new sub-region and Legacy Dungeon — East Mountaintops of the Giants and Miquella's Haligtree. However, keep in mind that the armor set and new areas do not require Latenna's questline.
Latenna is a young woman of the Albinaurics whom Tarnished can find sitting beside her dead wolf companion Lobo at the Slumbering Wolf's Shack in Liurnia of the Lakes. The protagonist can reach her location by making their way through the Lakeside Crystal Cave, a dungeon located under the southern cliffs of Liurnia. Upon starting her dialogue, Latenna will rebuke the Tarnished adventurer, ending with the phrase, "Was my other half not enough." If the player attempts to reveal any further dialogue, she will repeat the same confusing remarks.
This peculiar predicament is due to the fact that the Tarnished traveler is missing a Key Item in Elden Ring that they must possess before approaching Latenna. Accordingly, to progress Latenna's questline, the protagonist will need the right half of the Haligtree Secret Medallion.
Finding Albus and Fighting Ensha In Elden Ring
The Haligtree Secret Medallion (Right) can be acquired from a man named Albus, who resides within the swampy ruins of the Village of the Albinaurics. To enter the village, Tarnished can follow the western shoreline from the Lakeside Crystal Cave to reach the entrance of the murky grotto housing the desolate hamlet. As the player approaches, they must be wary of the Giant Dragonflies and Crabs that roam the vicinity. After riding up the village's slope to the Site of Grace, continue on the uphill path towards the ramshackle shacks atop the cliff.
Albus will be disguised as a large pot, sitting next to a sarcophagus with the Ivory Sickle. Before starting a conversation, be sure to take out the nimble humanoid enemy guarding the road nearby. Afterward, strike the pot to dispel Albus's disguise and speak with him to receive the right piece of the medallion. He will mention another Albinauric named Latenna, who must "fulfill her purpose." However, before returning to Latenna to advance her story, Tarnished can complete some optional side content of the questline by visiting the Roundtable Hold.
After receiving one half of the Secret Medallion, the protagonist will be invaded by Ensha of the Royal Remains the next time they fast travel to the Roundtable Hold. Once the Invader has been vanquished, the area will reset back to normal. Next, head to the door beside the spot where Ensha previously stood leaning against the wall. Tarnished can pick up the Royal Remains Set, a collection of armor pieces in Elden Ring that slowly restores HP while max Health is under 18%. Keep in mind that each gear piece will replenish 2 points of HP per second, meaning that wearing all four parts will be a total of 8 HP per second. Moreover, if Tarnished enters the room beside Ensha's set, they can speak with Sir Gideon Ofnir, the All-Knowing. By choosing the dialogue option "About Ensha" twice, Gideon will express his apologies for his pupil by revealing to the protagonist the location of a person who knows where the second half of the Haligtree Secret Medallion is — Latenna.
Latenna's Request and the Towering Sister In Elden Ring
Return to Latenna at the Slumbering Wolf's Shack and show her the right medallion piece. After acknowledging Albus's trust in the player, she will agree to help the Tarnished find the medallion's other half located in Castle Sol in the Mountaintops of the Giants. She will also join the player in the form of the Spirit Ash Summon, Latenna the Albinauric. To further progress Latenna's storyline, Tarnished must reach Leyndell, Royal Capital, and defeat Morgott the Omen King to receive the Rold Medallion from Melina.
The Elden Ring adventurer's next step is to ascend the Grand Lift of Rold and travel to the far north of the Mountaintops of the Giants. After passing across the great overpass guarded by a Golem Archer, cross the frozen river and continue northward around the winding Snow Valley cliffs to the castle. Latenna will speak to the player along the way, letting them know that they are getting close to the fort. The Haligtree Secret Medallion (Left) is on the rooftop of Castle Sol, protected by Commander Niall, a powerful Dungeon Boss in Elden Ring who will summon two phantom soldiers to fight by his side. Once he has been disposed of, ride the lift and retrieve the left half of the medallion.
Next, return to the Grand Lift of Rold and use the Secret Medallion to access the Hidden Path to the Haligtree. Once Tarnished exits into the Consecrated Snowfield, Latenna will speak about her origin story with Lobo. Afterward, she will tell the player to travel to a location north of Ordina, Liturgical Town, called the Apostate Derelict. While adventurers can travel directly northwest to the quest location, it is highly recommended they go north and pick up the "Mountaintops of the Giants, East" Map Fragment first. Furthermore, two enemies may hinder Tarnished along the way. First, if players tread too close to the center of the map, they will be invaded in Elden Ring by Anastasia, Tarnished-Eater, causing Torrent to become unavailable. Secondly, those who stray too far to the west will be invaded by Sanguine Noble.
Nevertheless, once Elden Ring Tarnished have arrived at the Apostate Derelict, they will encounter The Towering Sister. To complete Latenna's questline, use the Spirit Summon Latenna the Albinauric in front of the sister. After some concluding dialogue, Latenna will thank the protagonist for their efforts and reward them with a Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone. From here, the player can choose to discard her Ashes beside Lobo back at the Slumbering Wolf's Shack, or they can go to Ordina to see the ghosts of Latenna and Lobo reunited as ghosts in Elden Ring.
