As Tarnished adventurers ascend the slope to the Forge of the Giants in Elden Ring, they will encounter the Fire Giant, a massive humanoid boss hell-bent on protecting the forge from outsiders. Unfortunately, there is no way to bypass the giant, meaning that players must defeat it in order to progress to the Crumbling Farum Azula.

Although the Fire Giant moves quite sluggishly, Tarnished shouldn't be fooled by the beast's lack of speed in Elden Ring. The boss can quickly close distances due to its size and leaping abilities. Furthermore, the reach of each of the giant's attacks should not be underestimated, as they can decimate a challenger at any elevation or close range. Adventurers should also enter this boss battle with the mindset to fight on foot. Riding atop Torrent is a death sentence since the lack of dodge-rolling severely restricts the player's ability to approach the boss close enough to attack. This concept additionally applies to ranged fighters such as mages. The distance that Spells much travel to reach the giant equals the span of the giant's sweeping and slamming attacks. In other words, defeating the Fire Giant in Elden Ring requires close-quarter combat.

The fight will begin with the Fire Giant walking towards the protagonist at a slow pace. Them, riding atop Torrent, swiftly close the distance and start attacking its left ankle. Tarnished can recognize this weak spot by a large bracelet hanging on the specific leg. Continuously attack the anklet until it shatters, revealing a vulnerable scar on the giant's Achilles heel. During this time, the Fire Giant will execute various slamming attacks with its stone plate with a huge range but cannot reach under his feet. The first move players should watch out for during this time are its rolls, which can potentially crush the player. The other is a dual foot stomp, which is easy to dodge but can catch Tarnished off-guard if they aren't careful.

Fire Giant Boss Fight In Elden Ring

When phase two begins, the Fire Giant will open its chest eye, granting it new fiery abilities in Elden Ring. The first will be a burst of flames, covering the ground around it in fire. The next is a volcanic eruption of non-homing rocks showering from its mouth. During both of these attacks, spellcasters will likely have enough time to kill the boss. As for melee fighters, attack it from its backside and be cautious of its side rolls. By following these strategies, the Fire Giant shouldn't be too difficult.

Alternatively, Elden Ring players can cheese the Fire Giant by taking advantage of its weakness to bleeding attacks using the Ash of War: Seppuku. After the boss fight begins, ride Torrent over to the second entrance on the right and leap over to reach the opposite cliff. Go to the far southwest while keeping the giant's aggro and then fire Seppuku-enhanced arrows at the beast until it falls. Phase 2 of the Elden Ring boss fight will teleport the player back into the arena. Then, simply repeat the process of fighting the Fire Giant outside of the boss area to defeat it.
