Once Elden Ring's Tarnished have vanquished their first Demigod boss, Godrick the Grafted, they will be rewarded with Godrick's Great Rune and the Remembrance of the Grafted. Godrick's Great Rune is a Great Rune; special items dropped by Demigods in the Lands Between that can grant Tarnished a supernatural power. On the other hand, the Remembrance of the Grafted in Elden Ring is a Consumable Item that can instantly give players 20,000 Runes.
However, novice Elden Ring adventurers might face a predicament. While Godrick's Great Rune is in their Inventory, they might not be able to activate its power. Furthermore, those familiar with the Souls franchise will suspect that the Remembrance of the Grafted has more meaningful use than simply providing several thousands of Runes. These suspicions are indeed correct, as Godrick's Remembrance can be used instead to receive legendary equipment not obtainable elsewhere. To acquire this unique gear, Tarnished must head to the Roundtable Hold.
When Elden Ring fans first entered the Roundtable Hold, they will have noticed several locked doorways throughout the area. However, once Godrick has been defeated, one of these doors will open, specifically the one connected to the central room with the fireplace. Within this newly accessible area, Tarnished will encounter an Elden Ring NPC named Enia, the Finger Reader. She will bestow powerful gear to the player in exchange for a Remembrance and several thousands of Runes. For Godrick's Remembrance of the Grafted, Enia will offer the Axe of Godrick or the Grafted Dragon.
How To Activate Godrick's Great Rune and Remembrance in Elden Ring
If these two choices do not appeal to the Tarnished, they can consume the Remembrance for Runes option mentioned above. However, those who desire both of the weapons can duplicate the Remembrance of the Grafted at a Walking Mausoleum.
As for Godrick's Great Rune, Tarnished must ascend the Divine Tower of Limgrave to activate it, unlocking its full power. Near the entrance of Stormveil Castle, several footsoldiers and a Lion Guardian will be guarding the entrance to Limgrave Tower Bridge. At the end of this bridge sits a Sending Gate, a portal that will teleport players to the Divine Tower's doorstep. However, several axe-wielding and archer Giants patrol the path. While they lack the speed to swiftly confront the Tarnished, one successfully landed strike can deal significant damage. Accordingly, players should tread the Limgrave Tower Bridge cautiously yet with urgency. After reaching the end, ride the lift to the top of the Divine Tower to activate Godrick's Great Rune.
To equip Godrick's Great Rune's power, visit any Site of Grace and select the "Great Runes" category. However, this does not grant the +5 Attribute boost mentioned in its description. For this, players will need a Rune Arc to wield the Great Rune's power. Keep in mind that once the Tarnished has perished, they will need to consume another Rune Arc to receive the Great Rune's buff.
