A talented Twitch streamer has beaten Elden Ring's notoriously difficult Godrick boss using a controller made from bananas. FromSoftware’s latest dark fantasy RPG has been out for a couple of weeks now, and the internet is already filled with screenshots of players showing off their wild character creations and clips of chance encounters and bizarre deaths. These include one unlucky Tarnished getting killed by a lowly ram in Elden Ring mere seconds after taking down a fearsome boss, and another dying due to a dung beetle in the middle of a battle with a dragon.

True to FromSoftware’s previous works, Elden Ring can be incredibly difficult, so much so that even the game’s developers have expressed sympathy towards anyone struggling against Elden Ring’s many challenging enemies. From hulking giants to massive dogs that would-be Elden Lords would be foolish to try to pet, Elden Ring is filled with fearsome foes that stand between the player and their goal of reuniting the scattered fragments of the titular Elden Ring - and one of the most notorious of all is Elden Ring's dreaded Godrick the Grafted. Players face off against this massive, multi-armed warlord at Stormveil Castle, where his giant golden axe makes him a formidable opponent. However, some players have successfully brought an end to Godrick's reign of terror, and have used some pretty creative methods to do so.

One such player was SuperLouis64, who recently shared a short gameplay clip of himself playing Elden Ring using a controller made out of bananas to Twitter (via GameRant). As strange as this might seem on the surface, there is actually a scientific functionality behind this banana controller, as SuperLouis64 once explained that each piece of fruit functions like a key on a keyboard when connected to a circuit box and hooked up to a computer using a Human Interface Device. SuperLouis64’s unorthodox method for playing Elden Ring seems to have paid off as well, as he was able to defeat Godrick the Grafted using his tropical controller after a grueling boss fight.

Bananas are hardly the first unusual implement SuperLouis64 has used to play Elden Ring, as he recently posted another clip of himself utilizing the hoop-like Ring Fit Adventure controller in an impressive self-challenge. SuperLouis64 has also used a banana controller to play through Dark Souls 3, another FromSoftware title known for its punishing difficulty and medieval setting, gunned down opponents in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare with Donkey Kong’s infamous Bongo controllers, and even used a toy Nerf bow to fire the Bard’s arrows for real in Final Fantasy 14.

SuperLouis64 has become known for using bizarre and unusual controllers to beat infamously challenging video games like Elden Ring, and his recent victory over Elden Ring’s Godrick the Grafted using a bunch of bananas is one such impressive feat. In the few weeks that Elden Ring has been out, gamers all around the world have been jumping into the unforgiving world that FromSoftware and legendary author George R.R. Martin, and the many Twitch streams and tabletop RPG reenactments of Elden Ring are proof of the game’s overnight success. But while Elden Ring grants players a large arsenal of weapons and spells to defeat their foes, sometimes the most dangerous item of all is a ripe, healthy banana.
