(UPDATE: The footage reported on in this article has been revealed as a set of assets stolen from 3D artist Jack Phan, with no connection to Elden Ring. The original story follows.)

There have been reports of some more Elden Ring footage that has leaked online. First announced all the way back in 2019 at E3, Elden Ring has not yet secured a release date. There is speculation, however, that there will be more revealed about FromSoftware’s elusive game at this year’s E3, and that Elden Ring will be an Xbox exclusive on its release (whenever that may be).

Official Elden Ring news has really been thin on the ground, and that is putting it lightly. In lieu of anything clear cut about Elden Ring, however, there have been plenty of rumors surrounding almost every aspect of the game. From the final release date apparently coming at E3 to the class systems within Elden Ring following the same style as those from Dark Souls, fans have been searching for any small crumb of evidence that may shine some fresh light on the upcoming fantasy RPG. But while all of the rumors and theories surrounding the game have certainly generated a lot of additional hype for Elden Ring, they have still only been rumors, and nothing conclusive has been confirmed (or denied) by anyone at FromSoftware.

However, something a little more definitive may finally be here. New footage has leaked online that appears to show six seconds from Elden Ring itself. The clip was discovered on 4Chan and shared by reddit user AidThisFellowUser. There is not a lot that can actually be surmised from the brief and blurry footage, but it certainly gives off the same sort of atmosphere that FromSoftware fans have come to expect from its games. Ethereal mist wafts eerily in a large citadel type building, giving off the same melancholic aura that other Hidetaka Miyazaki games, such as Bloodborne, are famous for.

Elden Ring Rumor Timeline: When To Expect The Mysterious Soulsborne Red Enemy

However, while this is no doubt an exciting update for those eagerly anticipating more news surrounding Elden Ring, it is worth noting that this footage’s authenticity leaves plenty of reason for skepticism. The leaked footage appears to be shown at a different resolution to previously leaked Elden Ring footage, and there is quite notably no audio at all throughout the six second clip. It does, however, have the same watermark as some previous Elden Ring leaks.

While interesting, this snippet should be taken with a pinch of salt, as with all leaks and rumors, until something has been officially released by the Elden Ring developers themselves. This will hopefully not be too much of a wait. Given the strong credentials behind Elden Ring (including Game of Thrones’ George R. R. Martin) this extra wait will no doubt be worth it.
