While mechanical skill and game knowledge play a prominent role in player progression in Elden Ring, earning sufficient Runes to upgrade and empower the player character through leveling up is just as crucial for an optimal experience. Unquestionably, Elden Ring is not for the faint of heart, and the experience it provides is fulfilling yet unwaveringly challenging. Therefore, having a fast and efficient way to farm Runes and XP in Elden Ring may seem exploitative of the game's systems yet will certainly be a boon for those struggling to survive in the Lands Between's harsh world.

One of the best methods to quickly farm Runes in Elden Ring does not require the player to enter combat, yet it demands some horseback travel. Accordingly, the first priority for players should be to acquire Elden Ring's Mount, Torrent, from Melina. Torrent naturally becomes available after the player interacts with several Sites of Grace and rests at the next, triggering a cutscene with Melina.

After receiving the ability to summon Torrent, travel to the Third Church of Marika located in the northeast, near Caelid's border. It is highly recommended that Tarnished make their journey during the day, as the world at night has a much higher chance of spawning mini-bosses in Elden Ring and other high-level enemies that can "one-shot" the player.

After reaching the church, go behind the ruined walls to find a small device that teleports the player to Greyoll's Dragonbarrow near the Bestial Sanctum in Caelid. From here, ride to the south towards the Farum Greatbridge. Players are advised not to cross the bridge since a formidable dragon will make quick work of them. Instead, go to the west and travel southeast down the path towards a small bridge that leads to the Lenne's Rise Site of Grace. As mentioned above, players should make this trek to Lenne's Rise during the day since Elden Ring's nighttime spawns a deadly mini-boss that will surely pose a threat.

After activating the Site of Grace at Lenne's Rise, go down the sloping path under the Farum Greatbridge. Along the way, a giant metal ball will appear and roll over the player, instantly killing them. To avoid this, quickly move over to the left, so the sphere rolls off the edge and kills whatever mobs reside below. This event will net the player almost 2,000 Runes. Once the XP has been earned, refresh the area by resting at Lenne's Rise and then repeat the process. This reasonably effortless and straightforward Rune farming process in Elden Ring should make the player tens of thousands of Runes/XP per hour.
