While Elden Ring DLC is still not officially announced, recent statements from the parent company of FromSoftware, Kadokawa Corporation, suggest that such a project may be in the works. As a new FromSoftware game with a narrative that George R.R. Martin had a big hand in creating, Elden Ring became one of the most anticipated games of all time quite rapidly. Once reviews came in and fans got their hands on it, it took on a life of its own.

One of the many appeals of Elden Ring has been its focus on giving players the freedom to take the game at their leisure. There’s a shockingly large number of bosses that are optional but yield attractive rewards. Fans have even drawn up maps of Elden Ring’s non-optional areas, and the results are incredibly small compared to the vast world that FromSoftware has given players the ability to explore. This and the game’s impressive enemy designs are probably two of the most praiseworthy elements of the game, according to many. Plenty of chatter has subsequently spawned that already regards Elden Ring as a Game of the Year contender at this year’s Game Awards.

However, Elden Ring’s journey as a game could be far from over. In financial reports from Kadokawa, a FAQ question asks about the forecasted sales of Elden Ring, and the answer actually began speculation about possible DLC (via PlayStation Lifestyle). Rumors of multiplayer DLC have been circulating after modders unlocked arenas and coliseums in Elden Ring that could be used for PvP gameplay. However, the financial report didn’t go into details about the nature of any future Elden Ring content, simply stating that FromSoftware and Kadokawa are “considering a number of measures to help customers continue to enjoy this title.

While this statement could simply be hinting at further patches and updates, it definitely leaves the door open for potential DLC. Elden Ring DLC is already a highly anticipated release despite it not being officially announced. There’s already a player beating Elden Ring’s hardest boss every other day until a DLC announcement, showing just how dedicated and eager fans of the game are. These fans have also dedicated themselves to modding the game considerably, making beautiful fan art, and sinking hundreds of hours into experiencing everything the game has to offer.

While the Dark Souls games have large followings, Elden Ring appears to be grasping the attention of a larger audience of players who may not have been particularly interested in Dark Souls’ gameplay but are enthralled by Elden Ring’s world building and narrative. Even the world’s wealthiest person, Elon Musk, revealed his Elden Ring character. This all comes only months after the game released, and with Elden Ring DLC potentially on the way, its audience only stands to grow larger in dedication and number.
