Elden Ring gives players a vast plethora of options to choose from when it comes to weapons, but many of the most interesting ones require faith, arcane, and intelligence points to effectively wield. Players are given a choice of classes to choose from at the start of the game, with each suited to particular playstyles and weapon types, such as the Warrior class being suited to curved swords or the Astrologer class being suited to sorceries. As players begin to level up, it is likely that they will choose a couple of key stats to focus on, especially given the high requirements to use some sorceries in Elden Ring.

While many of the weapons can be wielded by the Tarnished even with fairly modest stats, more important to note is the weapon's scaling system, which increases a given weapon's attack power based on the player's corresponding stats. For example, a weapon with an A scaling in strength will deal much more damage to enemies for each point of strength than a weapon with a B or C scaling. Similarly, some weapons scale from two, three, or even four different stats, which means that the player is required to level their character more evenly to take full advantage of them, such as Elden Ring's Sword of Night & Flame.

Some of Elden Ring's most interesting and coolest weapons use some of these magical stats too, meaning players wanting to play sorcery or faith-based builds will still have some really powerful weapons to choose from. The arcane stat appears to be used more for weaponry than spells, with only a handful of sorceries and incantations requiring the stat, however, given that the stat also boosts item drop rates, it's still worth leveling in its own right. Another important feature to note is that although weapons can be used without the required stats, they will do much less damage and their unique skills will be unavailable, although this can be worked around with the use of Elden Ring's Rune Arc consumable and Godricks Rune, which gives players a +5 buff to all stats.

Elden Ring's Cipher Pata Feels Like An Assassin's Weapon

An Elden Ring character dressed in robes, wielding the Cipher Pata weapon.

The Cipher Pata is a fist weapon in Elden Ring that can leave the player feeling like they're playing Assassin's Creed when dual-handed. These weapons scale entirely with faith, requiring a not-insignificant 30 faith points to wield and dealing pure Holy damage that cuts straight through enemy shields, making them useful in the PvP modes. This weapon, originating from the Two Fingers, can be acquired fairly early in the game, as once the player has access to the Roundtable Hold it can be located in the same area as the mad tongue Alberich fight.

Elden Ring's Rivers Of Blood Is Satisfying To Wield

Elden Ring players who enjoyed Sekiro can always take up one of the game's many katana weapons to recreate that experience somewhat. Rivers of Blood is a great choice for players seeking to emulate that experience, providing they have the 20 arcane points required to wield it. This deadly katana perhaps unsurprisingly causes bleed build-up and has an impressive unique skill that allows the player to unleash a six-hit combo with devastating range.

Unfortunately, players who have only just begun their journey in the Lands Between will be unable to acquire this weapon, as it's limited to a later stage. Rivers of Blood can be obtained from a Bloody Finger invasion by the legendary swordsman from the Land of Reeds Okina at the Church of Repose in the Eastern Mountaintop of Giants area late in the game, making Elden Ring's Rivers of Blood both rare and really cool. The fight also makes for a satisfying duel.

Elden Ring's Eclipse Shotel Has A Unique Effect

Bad Elden Ring Weapons FromSoftware Can Still Save

The Eclipse Shotel is a pretty unique weapon, even with some of the unusual implements of war featured in the game, for one very important and destructive reason. The Eclipse Shotels' unique skill is the only weapon in the game capable of inflicting the instant death status Deathblight with its unique skill Death Flare, providing the wielder has the requisite 10 strength, 25 dex, and 30 faith to handle the weapon effectively. This formidable weapon can be located in Castle Sol in the mountaintop of Giants, the same place players need to visit and conquer to collect a piece of the secret Haligtree medallion to unlock Elden Ring's other area.

Elden Ring's Reduvia Is A Great Early Game Arcane Weapon

Reduvia is a weapon that a lot of players of Elden Ring will probably be familiar with, given that it appears early on in the game in the starting area of Limgrave. It also seems to be pretty popular in the PvP community due to its useful unique skill, Reduvia Blood Blade, which fires projectile blood blades at enemies that can cause the bleed status effect. Reduvia also has fairly modest stat requirements, with a paltry five strength required, alongside a more reasonable 13 dex and 13 arcane. Being a dagger, this weapon is also one of the fastest on the list, which coupled with its bleed effect makes it deadly against some of the more difficult Elden Ring bosses.

The Sword Of Night & Flame Is One Of The Best Elden Ring Weapons

The Sword of Night & Flame has already built up something of a legendary status within Elden Ring, given to the fact that not only is it one of the legendary armaments required for the associated trophy or achievement, it also has a unique skill in its own right, making it an excellent weapon, particularly for magic users. This powerful weapon requires a spread of 12 strength, 12 dex, 24 intelligence, and 24 faith to wield, making it one of the more awkward weapons for players to use in the game. This legendary weapon can be located in the Caria Manor alongside some of Liurnia's optional bosses in Elden Ring.

Players may be tempted to stick with more conventional weapons such as regular swords, spears, and axes as they journey through the Lands Between, but Elden Ring offers so much more to those who are willing to invest in arcane and faith stats. The magic in Elden Ring is already powerful, but with the use of some of these unique weapons, players can soon be just as deadly with a blade in hand as they are with a glintstone staff. Despite first appearances, there are many really cool arcane & faith weapons littered through the game for players to find and experiment with, both offline and in the game's PvP modes.
