The world of Elden Ring is rife with threats; whether those threats originate from the power of the enemies players encounter, or are looming within the storyline, the Tarnished Champion has to fight for survival in an unforgiving land. When danger can be found everywhere, it can be difficult to discern which problem is the most pressing. Luckily, one Elden Ring NPC is taking the burden of solving the real issue facing the Lands Between on his own.

[Warning: This article contains spoilers for Elden Ring.]FromSoftware is known for making difficult games with dark content, and Elden Ring is no different. Considering the open-world style and story length of alongside its general difficulty, players shouldn't feel bad if they don't finish Elden Ring. Blackguard Big Boggart is first located north of the Scenic Isles Site of Grace at a place called the Boilprawn Shack. Elden Ring has Rya send the player to Boggart, claiming that he stole her necklace. Boggart will allow players to buy the necklace from him, and also offer them the chance to buy Boiled Prawns, which are a body buff that increases damage negation by 15% for one minute.

Boggart's questline intersects with Elden Ring's Loathsome Dung-Eater, but it's possible to avoid Boggart's death and let him continue his work of killing crabs in the Lands Between, which allows the player to keep buying Boiled Crabs after he moves to Leyndell. Boggart's work is underappreciated considering the average size and prevalence of crabs and crayfish in the Lands Between, not to mention the crabs infected with Deathblight. Not only is Boggart the only one working to keep the crustacean population in check, but he turns the bodies into useful buff food that can help the Tarnished Champion on their journey.

As a minor NPC, the unexpectedly handsome Boggart in Elden Ring doesn't get as much attention as characters like Malenia or Ranni. His work can also get overshadowed by the achievements of the Tarnished Champion, who is on the path to decide the future of the Lands Between. As the only person who's realized the true threat that crustaceans pose to those residing in the Lands Between, Blackguard Big Boggart is an unsung hero of Elden Ring.
