FromSoftware's Elden Ring has been released to widespread critical acclaim while its world can simultaneously be a treacherous place for the uninitiated. The Lands Between is a breathtakingly dangerous world, ripe with enemies and bosses that make mechanics like item management and healing methods important factors to have become second nature.

There are a few key potions in the game used for healing and other stat recoveries, with the ones for HP (Hit Points) and FP (Focus Points) being the most apparent. However, players can get more creative by throwing the Flask of Wondrous Physick into the mix as well.

Flask Of Cerulean Tears

The first of Elden Ring's most obvious -- and practically necessary -- potion types is the Flask of Cerulean Tears. Aside from HP, players will likely need to manage their FP for things like Magic and Skills. That makes the Flask of Cerulean Tears important to pure physically offensive builds as well as Magic users.

Like its HP-restoring counterpart, this consumable has limited charges and different rates of potency (how much FP is restored per use) that can be replenished by resting at Sites of Grace. Likewise, its charges can be upgraded with Golden Seeds and the potency with Sacred Tears.

Flask Of Crimson Tears

The Cerulean Tears' counterpart, the Flask of Crimson Tears, is the outright required potion type to use throughout Elden Ring. Players of FromSoftware's past Souls-like games will be more than familiar with how it functions, as it's the equivalent of the Dark Souls series' Estus Flask.

It's the main mode of healing HP and learning how to manage its charges while exploring and fighting is crucial. The Flask of Crimson Tears is also limited and replenished after resting at a Site of Grace; can have its effects upgraded with Golden Seeds and Sacred Tears; and alongside the Cerulean Tears, the charges available for both can be allocated.

Flask Of Wondrous Physick

Games like Dark Souls also included alternate consumables to manage things like health, stamina, and other stats aside from the primary potion(s). In Elden Ring, players get access to the Flask of Wondrous Physick as a third mainstay potion type with a variety of effects. However, this potion is a bit of a technicality since the Flask itself has no effect until players mix Crystal Tear key items into it.

Because of the open-ended nature of this gameplay mechanic, players can make the Flask of Wondrous Physick do things from providing stat buffs, healing HP, replenishing FP, or acting as antidotes to combat afflictions. Though, players should keep in mind that while it also replenishes at Sites of Grace, it only carries one charge at a time.

Crimson Crystal Tear & Crimson Bubble Tear

Once players delve into Flask of Wondrous Physick cocktails is when things start to get more complex but, in turn, much more rewarding for those willing to take the time to optimize their character as best as they can. One such potion combination is the Crimson Crystal Tear with the Crimson Bubble Tear.

It's a standard and reliable mix for those that want to use the Flask of Wondrous Physick as auxiliary healing consumable. For a few minutes, this combo will heal players for 50 percent of their max HP and provide a healing charge if an attack takes players down 20 percent or less of their health for a potentially instant second chance at life.

Cerulean Hidden Tear & Magic-Shrouding Cracked Tear

For players that like to hone in on magic-focused builds in Elden Ring, the combination of the Cerulean Hidden Tear and Magic-Shrouding Cracked Tear is an excellent pairing in combat. Many of the Flask of Wondrous Physick mixes involve a buff that lasts a few minutes, but the Cerulean Hidden Tear specifically lasts just 15 seconds.

However, for those 15 seconds, players will have an unlimited pool of FP to draw from, which makes it ideal for unleashing a steady stream of powerful spells. Meanwhile, the Magic-Shrouding Cracked temporarily boosts the potency of magical attacks. It's a seamless mix for a short burst of devastating magic damage.

Speckled Hardtear & Crimsonburst Crystal Tear

If players are finding themselves struggling with a tough boss or enemy type that deals heavy damage on top of inflicting status ailments, the Speckled Hardtear and Crimsonburst Crystal Tear are some of the best defensive options for the Flask of Wondrous Physick.

The former heals the player of their current status ailment in addition to boosting their resistance to all ailment types. On the other hand, the Crimsonburst Crystal Tear slowly heals the player's HP over a few minutes. Pairing these two tears together is a good way to win a tight battle of attrition against a boss.

Greenburst Crystal Tear & Greenspill Crystal Tear

A Flask of Wondrous Physick cocktail comprising of the Greenburst Crystal Tear and a similar stamina-boosting item is a particularly strong combination for players that focus on melee combat. At the same time, though, it can be fairly flexible in offense and defense. The Greenburst Crystal Tear temporarily boosts stamina recovery speed, which is great if players are trying to overwhelm a boss with a flurry of attacks.

There are other stamina-boosting items this can be paired with, but the Greenspill Crystal Tear is a good mix with its 15 percent boost to the player's max stamina. Aside from continually smashing at enemies to break their poise and open them up for a critical strike, this stamina-enhancing cocktail is also great for shield users looking to absorb as many hits as possible.

Thorny Cracked Tear & Greenspill Crystal Tear

To capitalize on near-relentless offense, though, the more defensive Greenspill Crystal tear could be paired up with the Thorny Cracked Tear to hard-hitting effects. The aforementioned Greenspill Crystal Tear gives a 15 percent boost to the player's max stamina, but the Thorny Cracked Tear makes consecutive attacks stack damage.

This is certainly a powerful boon in a boss fight, as now players will have more headroom stamina-wise to hack away at an enemy's health and poise. Of course, to make proper use of this temporary boost, it's best if players are using a relatively light weapon that can hit quickly as opposed to a more cumbersome Greatsword or Great Hammer.

Stonebarb Cracked Tear & Greenburst Crystal Tear

The Greenburst Crystal Tear can also be mixed in the Flask of Wondrous Physick with something more aggressive. The heightened rate of stamina recovery is great for dodging and blocking, but the Stonebarb Cracked Tear is arguably one of the best ways to enhance critical strikes.

The Stonebarb Cracked Tear increases the chances of the player's attacks breaking an enemy's poise and opening them up for a subsequent critical strike. Having that extra headroom in stamina will help players maximize those odds by allowing them to execute more consecutive attacks, especially with the help of Elden Ring's various Spirit Ash summons.

Windy Crystal Tear & Opaline Hardtear

The player character dodge-rolling in Elden Ring.

As any FromSoftware Souls-like veteran will know, Elden Ring will have players dodge-rolling a lot throughout their encounters across The Lands Between. And like in other video games, dodging into attacks as well as away from them can be executed thanks to the temporary frames of invulnerability that happen during a roll.

Taking those mechanics into account, the Windy Crystal Tear and Opaline Headtear concoction is excellent for enhancing a player's evasive capabilities. The former Tear increases the duration of the "invincibility frames" during a roll, while the latter grants an extra safety net by boosting defense against all attacks.
