FromSoftware has come up with another gem with Elden Ring, and with it comes more difficult bosses with Margit as the first significant boss players can encounter. Difficult bosses are a staple of "Souls-type" games, and Margit takes his place among tough bosses, though he has a few weak spots. Defeating Margit, the Fell Omen in Elden Ring will give an extremely helpful Talisman Pouch and access to the Stormveil Castle Legacy Dungeon.

Elden Ring is an open-world game that puts a twist on the traditional Dark Souls-style games with a few different mechanics. One such change is the ability to ride into combat, where riding a horse into battle gives some other combat options, lending itself to player exploration as well. When it comes to world-building, a familiar character comes back to Elden Ring to lend their services again: Patches, who can help players prepare for the Margit boss fight.

Patches is a staple of the Dark Souls series, wearing different names such as Unbreakable Patches, Patches the Hyena, and The Untethered in Elden Ring. Patches is found in Murkwater Cave and acts as an optional boss. After lowering his health enough, Patches will offer to surrender and if the player shows mercy, he'll sell items to them. This is imperative with the fight against Margit, the Fell Omen because Patches sells Margit's Shackle for 5,000 runes. Margit's Shackle will lock Margit in place during the battle.

Getting Margit's Shackle is one item that will help with the fight against Margit, although getting the Lone Wolf Ashes is almost invaluable. The Lone Wolf Ashes, obtained from Renna at the Church of Elleh, is one of the best early game items in Elden Ring. It is a spirit that players can summon that creates a distraction, allowing some of the player's attacks to land safely while the wolves do minimal damage. Getting weapons leveled at least a couple of times will make life much easier, along with getting the Scaled Armor set for damage mitigation.

Also, every little bit of help is very much appreciated, and it comes in the form of a companion called Sorcerer Rogier, found before the fog gate to Margit. Before entering the gate to go to Margit, some gold writing appears to the right of the entrance. Interacting with the gold writing and accepting Rogier to the party gives a solid option against Margit in Elden Ring.

How To Beat Margit In Elden Ring

After going through the fog gate, Margit will typically start this Elden Ring boss fight by throwing two glowing daggers that players can easily roll away from with consecutive rolls. After the two daggers, Margit will attempt to get in closer with a few swings and then back away, which is a great time to use Margit's Shackle. Repeat the Shackle a second time to get Margit's health to approximately 50-60%. Next, Margit pulls out a golden hammer that signals the fight's second phase when reaching the previously mentioned health level.

Margit loves to do a leaping attack with the hammer slamming the ground with it. Players can roll out of the way of the blow and punish him immediately after to do generous amounts of damage. The attack players want to focus on is Margit's hammer slam, as it has the best window for counter-attacking. During the second phase, preferably after a hammer attack, players should unleash the Lone Wolf Ashes. If players want to be safe, they can stay at a distance and wait for the hammer attack.

However, rolling into Margit will both avoid damage and get players in a position to counter for heavy damage. Dodging into him is especially helpful when Margit puts his staff in front of him and makes a charging motion toward the player. If players don't have Margit's Shackle, using the wolves to open the encounter with him is an option, although taking Margit down will be riskier.
